Orbi and 2.4Ghz networks
I have around 10 devices that require a 2.4Ghz WiFi network, including an iRobot Roomba 980, five Lifx smart bulbs, a Wemo switch and a couple of TP-Link smart switches. In every case, these devices connect smoothly to Orbi's 2.4Ghz network. While browsing some Orbi Community history I found a number of posts from people who set up separate SSIDs for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz networks using Telnet.
Has the need to specifically target 2.4Ghz on the Orbis in order to meet respective vendors WiFi connection requirements a thing of the past? I'd like to know, because I recently read setup instructions for a device that demanded not only the presence of dedicated 2.4Ghz network, but also a requirement that the device carrying out the connection also be on this dedicated network.
The motive behind my question is to learn if Netgear has built into Orbi some smarts that let it give the other device what it wants, or if I have just fluked it
