Orbi mesh spectrum problem

Spectrum had to update and reboot my system. My orbi will not reconnect.  I have gone through all the steps numerous times. It does not even recognize that it is plugged into modem.  I have never had trouble before.

Re: Orbi mesh spectrum problem

What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem the NG router is connected too?

Power OFF both ISP modem and RBR for 30 seconds, then back ON with the ISP modem first, then the RBR.

My spectrum equipment is model # TC8717T. I did rebot and also tried all the suggestions on Orbi app. Nothing has worked so far.

Re: Orbi mesh spectrum problem

Your modem already has a built in router and wifi. What mode is it working in? Router? This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

I have to ask.....how long have you had your Orbi?  Has it ever worked with the Spectrum gear?

Or.....did you buy the Orbi not relazing that as a package, it has its own router?.....and that you would end up with 2 routers?  Huh?

Just some questions?

My orbi has worked great with my spectrum until they rebooted it. I know i now have 2 routers. It wasnt a problem until now.

Re: Orbi mesh spectrum problem

Had the same problem. Did everything i could think of to clear not obtaining a DHCP served ip address from the WAN. I even rest back to factory defaults.
Worked with spectrum. They flushed the mac from their cache and everything else.
Direct connect from my computer worked.
Switch back to my old crappy router and it worked......
Returned my Orbi . Really bummed cause it worked great for 12 hours.
