Orbi no password required in AP mode

Hi,

today I realized that my orbi system doesn't require password (or use defaults) when set in AP mode.

With the RBR850 no password is required to administer everiythings, with RBS850 the password is the default one.

If I try to change it using as previous password empty or the default one I receive the error as attachment (In really I can use every words as old password but nothing changes).

As ntoes: I use V3.2.18.1_1.4.14 because the next verions breaks the AP mode.

It's a feature? /s

Thanks in advance,

Probably due to bad sync on the RBS.

Try a factory reset on the RBR and RBS and re-sync the RBS wirelessly in the same room. Want for the RBS to fully sync.

Netgear has set up a community forum specifically for the Orbi AX (WiFi 6) products. Most of the people who watch that forum are more likely to have experience with Orbi AX and know how to work it better than those of us who follow this "general Orbi" forum. Might be more likely to find someone who has a solution if the question is posted there:

v4 doesn't break AP mode. Mine works well on v4 FW in AP mode.

You can try this FW:

Please use this link to the main forum product list to review and choose where to make your posts.

Thank you

Re: Orbi no password required in AP mode

Thanks for the reply and sorry for the wrong place of the post, it was not clear to me.

After hours of debugging it ends with rollback to V3.2.18.1_1.4.14 but this time with connect authentication requested by Orbi when I try to connect to them, so at the moment I had what I need.

I'll reply also in the community thread you linked me because more appropriate.

For info past months I try everything I can find on internet to solve the problem but without success.. unfortunately this is another attempt to add to the failed ones because following the Ryan4322' steps and firmware the problem remains the same.

WiFi network comes and goes and the satellite go Out of sync and it comes back okay about every 30 seconds.

This appens only with AP mode.
