I ran some tests and worked out the MTU size for the modem and then switch it to router mode instead of AP but still unable to do a simple speed test
Then thought it could be some thing to do with my ISP modem so I added the orbi to the DMZ but that failed to fix the problem.
I just want to be able to run the speed test function and check out the QOS feature.
Luckily Netgear Australia have a 30 day trial so if I am not happy with it I can return it.

I connected my router to a VPN and strait away the speed test starts working .
Still annoying it doesn't work as it should but at least I'm aware of the cause. - FURRYe38Feb 20, 2019Guru - Experienced User
Glad you were able to find out where the problem is.
Good Luck.
