Hi, I have an orbi 50 with 2 satilites for 1,5 years. Never had a problem. Installation with the app went smooth back then.
but no yesterday orbi lost internet connection all of a sudden. I was watching a serie on my iPad, and all of a sudden the image froze up. turned out I lost internet, something I never had with my orbi.
Although my iPad still had connection to my WiFi with strong signal, I tried to surf some webpages, but I couldn't get on the internet.
I went to see to the router. The led ring was white like it supposed to be. But still no internet, so I turned the router off and back on, and since then the ring is solid purple and stays that way. I still can connect to my WiFi network, but it is no internet connection.
I have plugged the internet cable that goes into my orbi router directly into my laptop. And my laptop could go on the internet, so the cable works fine.
i pushed the reset button for 10 seconds (till the power led started blinking red), to get back to default settings. And then I used the app to try and reconfigure the orbi from the start up. But whenever I come in the app to the point where my fine wants to connect to the default WiFi network from the orbi. My phone says she can't connect to the internet. And I see that the led ring on top of the router still is solid purple....
can anybody help me? Or is my router broken?
oh, and I am not a computer guy. So I'm hoping I can understand (and be able to do) what you guys are going to say.

Glad its working. I am curious on what happend to get it working.
I would keep an eye on it. if it fails again or something happens, contact NG support.
I would say mark your thread as solved however not having an idea of what was fixed or how....
Would be good if you could give feedback to some of the questions presented.
Enjoy.

So after more of a week of not working I prepared a "return for repair" on the Webstore where I bought it.
And just when I wanted to dismantle my orbi I had the urge of just trying to conect to my WiFi for one last time (although I tried it more then 10 times in the previous days...) and all of a sudden I got internet.... I have no idea what went wrong or why it started to work again on its own after a more then a week that it didn't work... but when WiFi was back, the orbi app did show a update status. So I did that update. And since no problems and all works fine again, WiFi signal shows full bars in all my rooms (and 2 bars in the garden)... just as it used to be.... so my happy again 🙂

Re: Orbi stopped working
Use a wired PC and web broswer to connect to the RBRs web page at 192.168.1.1 after the reset.
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected. https://kb.netgear.com/000036466/How-far-should-I-place-my-Orbi-satellite-from-my-Orbi-router
What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?
Try enabling Beamforming and MIMO(MIMO may or may not be needed) and WMM. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings
Try disabling the following and see:
Armor, Circle, Daisy Chain, Fast Roaming, IPv6 and Set 20/40Mhz Coexistence to 40Mhz only. Set Short preamble instead of Long preamble modes. Save settings and reboot the router and satellite(s).
