Painless way to replace Router with Orbi RBK353
Have Asus R86U (sole router) connected to a modem. This router is being replaced by Orbi RBK353. I want to avoid reconecting various devices to the Orbi. Will naming the SSID and the key the same in Orbi work? Current id is 192.168.x.x - can I give the Orbi router the same id please or does it not matter?
Yes, not everybody reserves IP addresses for devices, but if you have there should be a table in the Asus somewhere that lists them by MAC address.

Yes, I always set up each new WiFi router with exactly the same SSID/password as the one being replaced. All devices connect automatically. The default LAN IP address for the Orbi router is 192.168.1.1. If you have reserved specific IP addresses in the Asus for various devices, it is better to make the same reservations in the Orbi router before setting the SSID/password. Otherwise, as soon as the Orbi is given the SSID/password, devices will begin to connect and will get IP addresses from the Orbi.

Thanks for this. Persumably I need to note the MAC address and the ip address from the current router? Current router is 192.168.1.1, so the ip addresses should be similar.
