RBK50 Intermitent Wi-Fi issues
Last year I bought a RBR50/ RBS50 Router/ Mesh Kit from Amazon (the RBK50 kit). I decided to update the firmware last year and the result was intermitent wi-fi from the RBR50. I have tried all the possible versions of firmware, through from RBR50-V1.4.0.34 to the most recent RBR50-V2.5.1.16 (always taking care to load the same version of firmware on the RBS50). The problem persists. The wi-fi comes and goes for no reason. I have set it up as the main router, since my local Broad Band provider's router does not give me all the necessary controls.
As the RBR50's wi-fi comes and goes, so does the connectivity with the RBS50 Satelite.
I have configured the RBR50 with a 10.0.0.1 base DHCP address, have set up both the 2.4 and 5 Ghz wi-fi networks one single SSD, have tried automatic channels and have set the channels to fixed channels 02 (for 2.4 GHz) and 36 (for 5 GHz). Have not turned on Fast Roaming or Mu-Mi.
I do have V2.5.1.16 firmware loaded on both devices at the moment. But am getting ready to put the pair of Orbis back in the box and stop wasting my time on this.
If anyone can give me any suggestions, they would be very welcome.

By the way, on a wired connection I get very good speed, up to the nominal 240 Mbps downoad and 20 Mbps upload

Re: RBK50 Intermitent Wi-Fi issues
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected. https://kb.netgear.com/000036466/How-far-should-I-place-my-Orbi-satellite-from-my-Orbi-router
Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz. 2 should not be used.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?
Try enabling Beamforming and MIMO(MIMO may or maynot be needed) and WMM. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings
Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update?
