RBR40 Router died. Thinking about buying a used one. Are there any security issues buying used?
My router went capoot on me this morning. It had been having issues for the past week, always going down around somewhere between 6-7am. Usually I've gotten it to come back up, but this morning it's a no go. It's powered on, green light a blazing, but I can't get a colored ring to show up. I can't even get it to factory reset.
So in an effort to keep costs down, I found a used router on Amazon for $20. If it works, are there any security risks with using a used router? Could someone have installed a rootkit and gain access to my network/devices? Would doing a factory reset be all I need to do?
I don't care about using the Orbi app.
