Re: RBR50/RBS50 Firmware 2.5.1.16 Update
So, I am curious since your post mentioned RBR50Y's in the mix.
I have an RBR50 router, 3 RBS50 Sats, and 2 RBS50Y Sats.
I have been able to download the firmware for the RBR50 and RBS50 devices and have already upgraded the RBS50's to 2.5.1.16. No problems.
However the RBS50Y Sats are a different situation, the download page for this device shows 2 options, either 2.3.5.32 for Orbi's or 2.5.2.104 but that claims it's only for Orbi Pro....
So does anyone know if my router is an RBR50, will the firmware for the RBS50Y that is 2.5.2.104 (Orbi Pro) actually work? Cause if not, it seems 2.3.5.32 is the latest firmware for Orbi Mode for Orbi.
Just curious if anyone here knows.
Thanks

Re: RBR50/RBS50 Firmware 2.5.1.16 Update
2.3.5.32 is what you need for the RBSY. the Pro version is for if you have a Orbi Pro system and what the RBSY to work with the Pro Orbi.

Re: RBR50/RBS50 Firmware 2.5.1.16 Update
and 2.3.5.32 on the RBS50Y is compatible with the router (RBS50) being on 2.5.1.16? I really hate Netgears versioning scheme not having consistent versioning on the products to know this for sure... but for now just wanting to know that 2.3.5.32 will work with a router on 2.5.1.16.

Re: RBR50/RBS50 Firmware 2.5.1.16 Update
I don't know for sure. Ya I wish NG would keep the RBSY up to date with the same versions as the RBSs.
Is the RBSY currenly working with your system?

Re: RBR50/RBS50 Firmware 2.5.1.16 Update
I got the 500 Internal Server Error when trying to upgrade my RBR50. Rebooting the router, unplugging the modem cable, and of course using an ethernet cable resolved the issue for me. It never completed its "upgading don't unplug me" message in web browser, but after 4-5 mins I could see devices connecting and confirm router had right firmware version from my iPhone.

Re: RBR50/RBS50 Firmware 2.5.1.16 Update
I would factory reset the RBR and RBS and setup from scratch. after the setup completes and the system works. Be sure to do a backup configuration to file for safe keeping.
Enjoy.

Re: RBR50/RBS50 Firmware 2.5.1.16 Update
Yes, with the RBR50 still on 2.3.5.30 and the RBS50 Sats all on 2.5.1.16 and the RBS50Y Sats on 2.3.5.32 all devices are working.
Just would like to upgrade the RBR50 to 2.5.1.16 but not sure if the RBS50Y will work with that new firmware.

Re: RBR50/RBS50 Firmware 2.5.1.16 Update
Two choices,
Upgrade the RBR50 to v16 and see if the RBSY still works. If not, downgrade back.
Keep what you have for now and wait for NG to update the RBSY FW.
You might see if the RBSY will connect to the RBS if you enable Daisy Chain on the RBR and see if it will connect to the RBS loaded with v16. IF it does, then it's possible that upgrade the RBR may work.

Re: RBR50/RBS50 Firmware 2.5.1.16 Update
So I updated today with no issues to resolve my not seeing connected devices issue. I was seing 8 devices connected before which i knew was too little. Now all devices connected are showing up in the device manager list in the web ui and the app. I did the satellite and then the router. No issues.

Re: RBR50/RBS50 Firmware 2.5.1.16 Update
I was using linksys prior to this. This has had better coverage and better speed. And generated few to no complaints from my co-inhabitants. I don't like the app. I didn't like the linksys app either. Using separate apps for parental control is annoying. Asking you to pay subscriptions for this is annoying too.
I found the RBR50 Router upgrade here - https://kb.netgear.com/000061838/RBR50-RBS50-Firmware-Version-2-5-1-16
For the price I got this system, it has performed adequately for my needs.

Re: RBR50/RBS50 Firmware 2.5.1.16 Update
Thanks for letting us know. Glad all is working well now. Be sure to save off a new backup configuration to file. Saves time if a reset is needed.
Enjoy.

Re: RBR50/RBS50 Firmware 2.5.1.16 Update
Please post about your model orbi in the correct and more appropriate Orbi with Voice forum:
https://community.netgear.com/t5/Orbi-Voice-WiFi-Meets-HiFI/bd-p/en-home-orbi-voice
If you don't like what you have you have the option to return your product or sell it and find something else. Most users enjoy there Orbi systems. Not all Orbi systems are "garbage".
Good Luck.

Re: RBR50/RBS50 Firmware 2.5.1.16 Update
I had an interesting experience updating to 2.5.1.16. It appeared that one of my two RBK50 satellites updated, but not the other satellite or the router. This caused the wireless internet connection to stop working entirely. It took some hunting around to determine the firmware mismatch - once I got all devices on 2.5.1.16 everything was nominal again.

Re: RBR50/RBS50 Firmware 2.5.1.16 Update
Yes the RBS and RBR should be on same version. One can manually load FW on to RBS as well using there web page.
Thanks for letting us know. Enjoy.

Re: RBR2/RBS20 Firmware 2.5.1.16 Update
After updating to 2.5.16, my satellites no longer "know" the names of concected devices. They do show the IP address, Mac address and connection [2.4GHz or 5Ghz] but device names are listed as "Unknown". On the previous firmware they did know the device name. So, a step backwards in that regard...!

You try a factory reset on the RBR and RBS after the update?

No, I didn't, never had to do that before. Don't want to have to re-enter all the settings as it should be seamless. Other updates were.....

Re: RBR20/RBS20 Firmware 2.5.1.16 Update
Also, why can't we change the list order of connected devices so they show by IP address, or MAC address or, alphabetically, connection type....etc, ?
Seems like a very simple thing to do...

Re: RBR20/RBS20 Firmware 2.5.1.16 Update
Something NG hasn't implemented. Others have asked about this.
You can try this:

Re: RBR50/RBS50 Firmware 2.5.1.16 Update
Ever since the Firmware 2.5.1.16 Update my WIFI is cutting off every 5 minutes. The outage last only 10-15 seconds which is long enought to destroy connectivity to my many IoT devices. Can someone please give me a work around or solution?
I am considering throwing my $600 Netgear WIFI in the trash and starting over. I work from home and can not tolerate this level of service.

Re: RBR50/RBS50 Firmware 2.5.1.16 Update
You are not alone. The Orbi firmware is extremely unstable. I returned mine due to it not meeting advertises specifications. I replaced it with an Asus ZenWiFi AIMesh system and it works so much better, The only issue it has is that any guest networks only broadcast from the base router, they are not replicated on the satellites. Supposedly a firmware fix for this issue will be released soon.
