It should work.
What issues are you having with the syncing?
What firmware is on the satellite?
What firmware is on the router?

Re: RBS50v2 satellite will not connect with my RBR20 router are they incompatible?
I have been using the Orbi App to add the new satellite but it just can't see it.
I power up the satellite then press sync as instructed but it says "Satellite not found".
Firmware version on the RBR20 is V2.5.1.16
App version 2.6.4.1265
Until I can connect with the RBK50 Satellite I don't know anything about it. It was bought from Ebay and came boxed but secondhand.

Re: RBS50v2 satellite will not connect with my RBR20 router are they incompatible?
What you need to do is factory reset the RBS. Wire connect a PC to the 1st satellite.
Wire connect 1 PC to the back of the RBS. Factory reset the RBS, wait about 5 minutes. The PC will get a IP address from the satellite. The RBS will be 192.168.1.250. Use this IP address in a web browser to log in to the satellites web page. Log in as admin and password. Here you can find the FW information
I recommend installing near or same verson as whats loaded on the RBR. There is a v16 version for RBS50s
Use the satellites web page FW update feature to select the FW update file that was unpacked from the .zip file. Then factory reset and then re-sync the satellites to the RBR.

Thank you so much for getting back to me.
I waitied until I had some free time and sat down to follow your instructions it was then that I discovered that despite the box and the label on the rim of the satellite it was infact n RBR50 router! I have contacted ebay and am in the process of sending it back for a refund.
Thank you again.

that would make it more challenging to sync 🙂
If the return/refund doesn't work, there's a way to convert an RBR to an RBS device. It isn't official and there's a chance of bricking your device if you don't know what you're doing so it'd be a last ditch effort type thing. And you won't find it on the forums, you'd have to search google.
