Re: Rbr50 firmware
What a hoot! Thanks for mentioning this. I DID IT. Now on v2.7.5.6. Will "see how it goes".
Some thoughts:
- Netgear software engineering: oh my! After 8 years of introducing new firmware on the support site first, then letting the Orbi router discover it, then having the Orbi router announce "New Firmware", etc. This release "Jumped the queue" entirely. The previous release (v2.7.5.4 from Feb, 2023) never made it past step 1.
- In the past, the Downloads support pages for products with several package numbers would be updated erratically. i.e. RBK50 might be updated to reveal new firmware, but RBR50 or RBS50 might not. I brought up every variation of the model number for the "50" I could find, and none of them mention this new firmware.
- "Bug Fixes"... (sure). However, the programming bug that Netgear was told about years ago still remains. There is a short integer in a program that should have been a long integer. Causes all sorts of mayhem in regard to device management. Not fixed.
Life is never dull in Netgear World.

Re: Rbr50 firmware
I got the notice today and was also concerned when the "official" product page says nothing. https://www.netgear.com/support/product/rbr50/#download
Guess it makes sense to wait a bit until I give V2.7.5.6 a shot in my RBR50. Please let us know if anyone runs into issues or discovers what the update really includes.

Re: Rbr50 firmware
I am also on Spectrum and find that v2.7.5.6 reports essentially the same speed as I had before. Ookla Speed test is really sensitive to the specific server being accessed (and it is really annoying that the web interface does not report which Ookla server was used). A Windows 11 PC connected to the RBR50 with Ethernet also reports about the same speed.
It might be interesting to repeat the Speed Test (either on the router or a computer wired to the router). Spectrum is also sensitive to load. When all the customers are home streaming video, a Speed Test might be lower than usual.
