Regretting Orbi install - please help RBK50
Hello All,
I had bought an Orbi some time back and finally over the weekend i installed it. The installation process was simple - but now i am really regretting it. I kept the same wifi name and password so that there are no issues with my devices
In terms of positives - my MAC's, iphones, iPad's, printers etc. all connected well with the new credentials. My dell laptop had issues, i had to delete and reintsall it's wireless drivers for it to connect to wifi.
Issues
1. No obvious improvment - i have placed the satellite and during the install it gave the blue light to satisfy signal strength - but my weak wifi spaces like kitchen and garden are still suffering.
2. My chromecast stopped working - i have factory rest and reinstalled it 3 times, no luck
3. My Ring video doorbell and devices are no working - i need to sort it.
4.My VPN has been acting strange
I have been trying to read some solutions on the net, but wasn't sure which ones will work - for e.g. tried to go into advanced settings and deselect daisy chain / 20-40 Mhz switch etc, options - but no luck so far.
Any advice would be gratefully appreciated. If i can't fix these issues, i might have no choice but to go back to using our old router,
Regards
RKS

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Is the Orbi system operating in Router or AP mode?
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.
https://kb.netgear.com/31029/Where-should-I-place-my-Orbi-satellite
What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?
https://kb.netgear.com/19668/Link-Rate-and-Transfer-Speed
Try enabling Beamforming and MIMO(MIMO may or may not be needed) and WMM. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings
Try disabling the following and see:
Armor, Circle, Daisy Chain, Fast Roaming, IPv6 and Set 20/40Mhz Coexistence to 40Mhz only. Set Short preamble instead of Long preamble modes. Save settings and reboot the router and satellite(s).

Re: Regretting Orbi install - please help RBK50
Thank you @FURRYe38
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too? - I have got SKY ( UK broadband provider), it's a Sky Q router.
Is the Orbi system operating in Router or AP mode? - I never got an option to choose one, i used the Orbi app on my iphone to install it - i believe it's now the default router. Should that be changed and is it possible to change that please?
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft? 800 sq ft
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected. - This is a good point right now that's more like 15ft, i have kept the satellite around the centre of our home, i can move it to the edge and see if that helps.
Regarding the other suggestions - i actually tried that by logging in to http://orbilogin.com and http://orbilogin.net I was able to log into both sites once make some of these changes and apply and after that it no longer opens. I keep getting that error page saying page is not available - i have tried clearning cookies etc. deleting history and using another browser but no luck - it almost feels like NG doesn't want me to use and make such changes and rely only the Orbi App which has no ability to change any configurations. If there is away to solve this to reach the admin page that would be much appreciated.

Connect to the Orbi WiFi Network Looks like you’re not connected to your Orbi’s WiFi network. Don’t worry, it happens to the best of us. Try the following steps to get connected:

What mode is the modem working in router or bridge? if router, his would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

You'll get this feature when using a PC and web browser connected to 192.168.1.1 or orbilogin.com

For the size of home, the RBS may not be needed.

Do you have neighbors nearby? It's possible their wireless network is braodcasting on the same channel as yours and causing interference.
What Internet service do you have? If it's cable, get a modem with 8 upstream channels, such as 24x8 or 32x8. This will help with devices such as Ring cameras that upload video stream.
