Troubleshooting WiFi speed issues on Orbi RBR10 router

I have gigabit internet from my provider (Verzion FiOS), and the Orbi app tells me that the speed is 600+ Mbps download and 800+ Mbps upload, which some research has told me is measuring speeds at the router. When I run the Speedtest app on my phone or laptop, though, while sitting a few feet from the main Orbi router, I'm only getting 200-300 Mbps for both download and upload. There apparently is one other network on the current channel the 5G network is using (channel 1). Would this difference in speed be caused by interference from other networks? Is there some way to troubleshoot why the speed on WiFi is no more than half what is it at the router?

Looking at the manual[1] for my router, I only see troubleshooting tips for not being able to connect to the network at all.

Thanks in advance.

My guess is that the difference in "speed" is caused by (a) WiFi connections losing capacity to WiFi overhead and (b) the RBR10 and RBS10's are using the same 5G channel to communicate between themselves as they are for communicating with user devices.

It should be possible to verify that the Orbi "app" report is accurate by connecting a computer to the ethernet jack on the back of the RBR10 router (the satellite has no ethernet jacks) and running a speed test.

Re: Troubleshooting WiFi speed issues on Orbi RBR10 router

Thanks for the reply. It didn't occur to me that the Orbi app might be wrong about the network speed at the router. I tried plugging something directly into the Orbi main router, and got speeds that, while significantly higher than the WiFi, were much lower than what the Orbi app is reporting. After searching my email, the gigabit internet (which was giving to me for free, temporarily) was supposed to have expired on June 30th. Not all is explained, but this did give me a lot more insight. Thanks.
