Why is netgear forcing a firmware update on my RBR/RBS50 system despite being disabled?
Hi everyone and Netgear support staff.
I have manually downgraded my netgear orbi rbk50 pair firmware to version Firmware Version 2.1.3.4 from version 2.1.4.10 due to client wifi dropouts.
I then reset to factory defaults and reconfigured.
Also enabled telnet in order to disable autoupgrade and autoupdate of the firmware based on the following Netgear community article:
I want to know why on earth I am being bullied by Netgear to upgrade my firmware if I feel that the older one is more stable?
What is the point of making older firmwares available for download if your Orbi firmware will eventually be force updated?
Please provide a permanent setting in the firmware not to upgrade please!
I was a big advocate of netgear products before this Orbi negative experience and will not be recommending their products in the future.
Regards

There is newer FW available here:
You can better voice yoru concerns about autoupdate here as well:

There are a few articles here in the forum which detail on some methods to prevent autoupdate from occuring. Might try a search.
