WiFi Drops / Disconnects (Orbi RBK50 AC3000)
I'm having some issues with dropped connections. Sometimes on my phone I'll notice a full disconnect -- WiFi network drops, switches to LTE then a minute or so later the WiFi connects again. But on most of my devices, the symptoms are buffering YouTube TV or YouTube or another streaming video service. This issue is only over WiFi. I have a hardwired PC that never drops connection.
Thank you in advance.
My setup:
- Verizon FiOS Gigabit
- RBK50 AC3000 Tri-Band System
- RBR50 is in the basement connected directly to Verizon FiOS ONT through ethernet.
- RBS50 is on the second floor. Backhaul status is good.
- Home is only 1350 sq. ft. so having the modem/router in the basement and satellite on second floor seems to be find and is within the recommended distance (and good backhaul status)
Settings:
- Wireless:
- 2.4GHz Channel: Auto
- 5GHz Channel: 44
- LAN Setup:
- IP: 10.0.0.1
- Range: 10.0.0.2 - 10.0.0.254
- Set a static IP for Orbi Satellite to 10.0.0.14
- Advanced:
- Wireless Settings:
- Enable 20/40 MHz Coexistence: Unchecked (disabled)
- Transmit Power Control:
- 2.4 GHz: 100%
- 5 GHz: 100%
- Enable Daisy-Chain Topology: Unchecked (disabled)
- Enable Implicit Beamforming: Checked (enabled)
- Enable MU-MIMO: Checked (enabled)
- Enable Fast Roaming: Checked (enabled)
- Router / AP Mode: Router Mode
- Wireless Settings:
Please let me know if there is any additional information that I can provide.

Re: WiFi Drops / Disconnects (Orbi RBK50 AC3000)
What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Basements are not recommended places for wifi routers. Concrete and steel inhibits wifi signal travel and good performance.
30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

Firmware: V2.7.0.70
Verizon FiOS ONT: I-211M-L
Unfortunately, the basement is my only choice since that is where Verizon installed the ONT and the house doesn't have ethernet wiring to any other location.
The distance between my RBR and RBS is at least 30 feet.

Re: WiFi Drops / Disconnects (Orbi RBK50 AC3000)
If you turn OFF the RBS, does the problem continue?
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?
One User Experience/Configuration:

Has a power off for 1 minute then back on been performed since last update?
Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update?
There is a more recent FW update for v2.7x on NG update web site...

Re: WiFi Drops / Disconnects (Orbi RBK50 AC3000)
I do have neighbors close by. My home is in a suburban neighborhood. I've attached pics from WiFi Analyzer.

I have factory reset and set up from scratch. I will check for a firmware update. It didn't find one when I last checked a couple of days ago.

Re: WiFi Drops / Disconnects (Orbi RBK50 AC3000)
Do a full power OFF of the RBS and RBR for 1 minute them back on...
Let us know if anything changes or not. A reset maybe next step...

I also changed the 5 GHz channel to 36 based on the WiFi Analyzer results

Re: WiFi Drops / Disconnects (Orbi RBK50 AC3000)
Will do. I'll need a day or two to see how stable everything is and if I experience drops.
Thanks so much for the help.
