Morning all,
SInce I updated the firmware to 2.5.1.16 from 2.5.1.8, I am having an issue with Wifi being connected but no internet being available. To compound the issue, I get the message of 'Connected No Internet' but still have an internet connection. This happens on both 2.4 and 5 bands. To solve the issue, I disconnect from WiFi and reconnect but this shouldn't be the fix.
As best I can tell, this happens only on WiFi. The laptop I am using to type this up is connected to the network via ethernet and I haven't experienced the issue here.My PS4 is also ethernet connected and while I was gaming last night, the TV kept throwing up 'No Internet Connection' messages dialog boxes but the online gaming was uniterrupted.
I am technically inclined but I readily admit that when it comes to networks and their workings, it completely mystifies me. As far as I am concerned it's witchcraft.
Thank you for any help you can provide. It is greatly appreciated!

Update as of this moment - installed Firefox (weird it wouldn't work with Chrome!) and was able to roll the firmware back on both the RBR and the RBS to the previous version, which is 2.5.1.8.
Did this around 1600 yesterday afternoon and as of 0930 this morning nothing has dropped the internet connection. Fingers crossed but I feel good that perhaps this did the trick because it would drop multiple times per hour, every hour, for the last couple weeks. Seemed to be the biggest problem on the Samsung S10E and my Androiud HiSense TV (maybe it is a conflict with the Android OS??) and now that I say that out loud, this happened on Android devices. Hmmm....
@BretD Noticed you are an admin on this forum. Perhaps you could pass along my experience with this firmware update to Netgear Support. Thanks!

Re: WiFi with No Internet Connection After FW Update
Please try a factory reset and setup from scratch with the RBR and RBS.
Power OFF the ISP Modem for 30 seconds then back on. Walk thru the setup wizard on the RBR.

Re: WiFi with No Internet Connection After FW Update
So when walking thru the setup wizard on the RBR with a web browser, does it report any problems getting a connection with the modem?
Did you get up a IP address reservation first for the RBR ON the modem so it's IP address doesn't change and then input this into the modems DMZ+?
Try AP mode on the RBR and disable DMZ+ on the PACE modem. See if the RBR works in AP Mode with the PACE modem. Be sure the modems wifi is fully disabled.
Seem others with various problems with the model modem. Most were resolved by upgrading to the Arris BGW-210 modem.

Re: WiFi with No Internet Connection After FW Update
No, no issues reported when going through the setup, everything connects fine. Yes, the IP address is reserved on the modem's DMZ and doesn't change.
If I do the AP on the RBR, don't I lose the Netgear Armor and the firewall on the Orbi?
If the problem is with the modem, why did it work just fine before the FW update? Tried to roll back the FW update and can do it on the satellite but the router keeps locking up the GUI and resetting the interface.

Re: WiFi with No Internet Connection After FW Update
So the web page on the RBR reports no internet connection after the setup completes?
You don't need Armor or firewall in AP Mode as firewall is handled by the main host router up stream.
What browser are you using to downgrade? Use IE11x32 or firefox.
You are using a wired PC to downgrade? Don't use a wireless connection for FW dowgrades.

Re: WiFi with No Internet Connection After FW Update
The RBR reports internet works fine. It's the WiFi connected devices that report 'Connected but No Internet'. It is intermittent and seems to be isolated to the WIRELESS devices. The WIRED devices that are directly connected to the RBR via ethernet are working just fine.
I get that the firewall on the 5268 works but I paid for Armor and like the interface and protection it affords and would rather it work as intended.
Using Chrome 83.0.4103.97. I'll download IE and Firefox and try as you suggest and report back.
Yes, using a PC directly wired into RBR to attempt the downgrade.

Re: WiFi with No Internet Connection After FW Update
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected. https://kb.netgear.com/000036466/How-far-should-I-place-my-Orbi-satellite-from-my-Orbi-router
What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?
Try enabling Beamforming and MIMO(MIMO may or maynot be needed) and WMM. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings
Try disabling the following and see:
Fast Roaming, IPv6 and Set 20/40Mhz Coexistence to 40Mhz only. Save settings and reboot the router and satellite(s).
The firewall the ISP modem needs to be disabled since the RBR is in router mode. Having two firewalls running is not good. Be sur the wifi radios on the modem are fully turned OFF.

@FURRYe38 wrote:It's been running for 2 years just fine. But, it's around 30 feet, yes. All this is in the post above. Again, it was working great up until recently. What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many? Yes, I live in a neighborhood and can see 3 - 4 other networks when looking. I have been diligent to make sure our channels do not overlap.Try enabling Beamforming and MIMO(MIMO may or maynot be needed) and WMM. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings. Tried that several times and in every variation over the last two weeks. Still cannot get it stable.,
Try disabling the following and see:
Fast Roaming, IPv6 and Set 20/40Mhz Coexistence to 40Mhz only. Save settings and reboot the router and satellite(s).Yep, been there, done this.
The firewall the ISP modem needs to be disabled since the RBR is in router mode. Having two firewalls running is not good. Be sur the wifi radios on the modem are fully turned OFF. Yes, firewall is disabled due to the DMZ+ setting and yes, the radios are off on the 5268

Re: WiFi with No Internet Connection After FW Update
I would try AP mode with the DMZ disabled on the modem.
One last thing would be to factory reset and not enable Armor to see if Armor maybe causing problems. Armor has been known to cause some problems.
Contact NG support for additional help and information as well.

Re: WiFi with No Internet Connection After FW Update
Understand man. Orbi can be probmatic for sure.
As last restore, You can try Voxels FW for Orbi:
https://community.netgear.com/t5/Orbi/Voxels-FW-available-for-50-series-Orbi-only-available/m-p/1883...
You can revert back to stock FW if it doesn't work out for you.

Re: WiFi with No Internet Connection After FW Update
Having exactly the same issues. Tends to drop on WiFi about 11pm each night for almost passed week. We as only when I jumped on an IPAD there was a notification on ORBI app that my firmware updated to 2.5.1.16, six days ago which is about right.
I think this update has caused my issues. It's been great to date and should be for money I paid for the kit.
I've not yet tried a factory reset but sounds like didn't help you?

I avoid chrome for doing any FW updates.
Wonder why some users are having difficulty with this version of FW, even after a reset and others are not.

Glad reverting back helped.
Next time, try manually loading FW by downloading the FW files and applying them manually. Factory reset and setup from scratch. Next time.
Please mark your thread as solved so others will know.
Enjoy.
