Wireless password is visible from orbi router amin screen
I am just setting up a new orbi system and logged into the router admin at orbilogin.com and the from the home screen there are six icons showing the status of various features and at the bottom of the wireless icon it is showing the SSID, which is fine, but it is also displaying the network password in plain text. What's worse is that I set up a lengthy password so it's scrolling it across the bottom of the wireless icon making it the only dynamic feature on the page so it immediately draws your eye to it. Anyone within eyeshot will be able to see the wireless password, which is highly undesirable to say the least. Is there a way to configure this so the password is hidden with ******** characters or something unreadable unless I do something to make it visible??
The same is true when I click on the Wireless link under the Basic menu ... the wireless password is in plain view for all to see rather than being hidden as ***************.
Please help keep our passwords secure!

Re: Wireless password is visible from orbi router amin screen
I completely agree, this insecurity on the default home page of the router is very unprofessional and is an insecurity on the router.
Netgear, please DO NOT DISPLAY the WiFi passwords in the clear for the primary and guest networks on the default Basic -> Home page. The passwords should not be displayed on this page at all, instead it would be more helpful to display the encryption being used on both the Primary and Guest WiFi networks for this status page. Please correct this security issue! The password can still be shown when uncovered on the WiFi Settings pages if needed, but there is absolutely NO REASON to display PASSWORDS IN CLEAR TEXT on the home page!

Geez. Do people log into the Orbi web interface and then walk away leaving the computer unattended while strangers are in the house? Of all the things to ding Netgear over, this one seems pretty lame.

Re: Wireless password is visible from orbi router amin screen
Orbi and other NG routers have been like this for a while now. I presume it's a convienence kind of thing and NG probably intended it for simple view for those who are only administrating the router and doing management with in the web page. Most of the time, there is usually nobody else around or users should know by know already to do any administration on there routers with no body else around unless you have authorized users that can be around and already know whats going on.
You can post about this here to see if you can get NG to change this policy:
