orbi firmware update RBR50-V2.1.2.18 will not install
OS is Win10 64 bit. First the Netgear email link did not load. Second, going to Netgear website, the firmware upgrade (see above) comes as a compressed disc file, whatever that is. Third, I cannot decompress the file and when I try my computer says it is a corrupted file. Netgear problem or mine? Solutions please.

What zip program are you trying to use when unzipping the file?

Thanks for reply Darren. See below. I can't get past this window. So I do not know which zip program will be employed.

Reply to myself:
Can't unzip the file that Netgear sent.
Why do I have to update router and satellites separately?
This gets complicated for a device sold to the general public.

Winzip sasys the file is potentially dangerous.
Winzip also says file cannot be opened due to corrupt data.

Re: orbi firmware update RBR50-V2.1.2.18 will not install
The "confusing page" looks like it is showing you the contents of the compressed file. The first file is the release notes. The second file is the firmware image "RBR50-V2.1.1.18.img". Your Windows File Explorer is set to not show common file extensions so you do not see the ".img" part of the name. Everything looks in proper order.
The "Image" is a tab. You can extract the files by clicking on the "Extract All" button towards the upper right. Make note of where it will extract to. Then go there and use the ".img" file to update the firmware. Note that since you do not show extensions, you will have three items shown as "RBR50-V2.1.1.18".

Re: orbi firmware update RBR50-V2.1.2.18 will not install
Thanks. I was able to move ahead a step or two.
Unzipped the file into my Netgear folder.
Trying to open the file, the message is "the disc image file is corrupted."
Appreciate any help.

Re: orbi firmware update RBR50-V2.1.2.18 will not install
I don't understand how (or why) you are tryng to open the file. You should just go into your RBR50 web page for updating firmware and tell it to use the file.

I would like to do that Joe, Where is my RBR50 web page? Where does it tell me to use the file?
