Wondering if your system is faulty here. I would ask NG support to look into this. Ask about an cross shipping RMA and see if another system does same thing....

What is a cross shipping RMA. Sorry I'm sort of new to this stuff.

In the meantime are there any other solutions or things to find out where it went wrong? It's super prefered if I can fix the router.

NG sends you a new system however takes your credit card info. If you don't send either unitt back, then NG charges you for the additional unit. I've done this a few times to check if new systems works or not. Helps to keep something running while you waitt on the new unit to arrive.

Re: Network Round Trip Time Spikes ever few Seconds on Orbi ax4200 RBR750

Here, I'll explain my situation. My family bought a new router because our old router was breaking and disconnecting but the ping was still fine it was just old and reboots sometimes. We bought a new router to try and fix it but our family is scared of the current virus so we don't buy anything online and rarely go outside at all. Now that the wifi works it's fine for them but it's not for me since I am on the esports team for my school and the ping spikes are losing us games. My family doesn't return it because it works for them but it really doesn't work for me. I hope this message doesn't stop you from trying to help me.

It's an old Linksys EA6900

So does this router work a far as the wired portion goes? If it does, try this, disable ALL wifi radios on the EA6900. Set it up as your host router, then configure the RBR for AP mode. Connect the WAN port of the RBR to a LAN port behind the EA6900.

Test see if ping spikes are still happening with just the RBR running for wifi.

I tried one of those when they first came out. I remember there was a heat problem, wonder if Linksys fixed that. Smiley Embarassed

Its a fairly old router and likes to disconnevt but if the ping doesnt spike does that mean a problem for the ng router?

as in the ea6900 was replaced because it disconnects constantly. It always reboots.

Yes.

Does the EA disconnect if it's wifi is disabled?

Is the FW updated on the EA router?

Ok, well something you may want to explain to the family member who got this and let them know that the system may need to be replaced or returned,

You see, this is why it's so tough for me. Everything they hear comes out of my mouth and they don't trust me for this. They don't speak English.

Actually I was able to convince my family members to return it since they have also been effected by it as well. Since we bought it at costco, do we just return it and then buy a new one and it should work?

We are returning it to costco. Not sure if they offer it. Do you think the nethear mighthawk would be better for gaming. The mesh one

The XR series is good for gaming. I enjoy my XR450 when I have it online. It's same hardware as XR500 sans 2.4ghz connection rates differ between them. I can't say I would recommend the XR700. There is a XR1000 now that I haven't had a chance to try.

Do you have a recommendation for a mesh router. Decent price below or equal to the rbr750 which was about 600 I believe.

Or is the rbr just the best one netgear offers for that price

Sorry for all the questions. One more. Are you sure not all the rbr routers are like this?

Re: Network Round Trip Time Spikes ever few Seconds on Orbi ax4200 RBR750

If you don't AX, you could try Orbi RBK50/53 series which is just AC.

If you wanted the gaming router, you could get the XR500 and then get a EX7700/EX800 or two to use as extenders. I have two EX7700s and work well with my XR450 for good coverage. Not MESH but works well for a dual band configuraton.

Re: Network Round Trip Time Spikes ever few Seconds on Orbi ax4200 RBR750

Thanks for the help but I don't think it's my routers fault anymore. The orbis are doing great :). I bought a brand new nighthawk from costco and it has the same pattern of ping.
