Orbi RBR750 can't connect to app or admin page / firmware issue

I am aware this issue has already been reported.

links include:

https://community.netgear.com/t5/Orbi-WiFi-6-AX-and-WiFi-6E-AXE/Orbi-Web-Page-and-Orbi-app-Access-St...

https://status.netgear.com/incident/185

I have a couple questions not addressed in either post.

First, the text of the incident says, "A factory reset usually resolves this issue."  If it doesn't resolve the issue, does it brick my router?  I don't have a link, but I read on another post that if you factory reset, you will not receive future FW updates.  Any truth to that?

Second, if the factory reset does not resolve the issue... will that mean I have factory settings only and no way to change them?  That would be disastrous.

Third, Netgear is supposedly working to fix this (they say it is of the highest priority).  Will this potential fix be automatically applied, or will I be required to do a factory reset?

Fourth, if this problem does end up bricking my router, what can I expect Netgear to do to rectify the situation?

Thank you,

Darren

No.

No idea if NG will keep pushing FW updates or not at this point. Something to ask official NG support about to see.

Second, if the factory reset does not resolve the issue... will that mean I have factory settings only and no way to change them?  That would be disastrous. One should have a back up configuration saved to file for just such events or when a factory reset is needed.

Third, Netgear is supposedly working to fix this (they say it is of the highest priority).  Will this potential fix be automatically applied, or will I be required to do a factory reset? NG can apply this with out a factory reset. Something to contact NG support about if you don't want to factory reset your system.

Fourth, if this problem does end up bricking my router, what can I expect Netgear to do to rectify the situation?

Something you'll have to contact NG support about if that happens

Re: Orbi RBR750 can't connect to app or admin page / firmware issue

I see that NetGear has a fix.  Their message was posted 5/23 and said they were rolling it out over the next 10 days, which would mean through June 2nd.  Their message didn't say how I would know if I had received the fix.  I guess if I am able to access the admin page, then I got the fix.

But how do I know that I haven't already got the fix, but it isn't working?  Is there a notification that the fix was applied?

They said they are rolling it out over the next 10 days.  How are they selecting who gets it on day 1 vs. who gets it on day 10?  If they are going by serial number, or ip address, or some other identifiable criteria, then I should be able to check the schedule and see what day I am to receive it.

What happens if my router is powered off when my turn to receive the patch comes up?  Do I just miss out?

Is there a way to download and apply the patch myself?

Thank you in advance,

Darren

They don't tell us that information.  If they are going by serial number, or ip address, or some other identifiable criteria, then I should be able to check the schedule and see what day I am to receive it. Users have been contacting NG support and giving there product serial numbers and getting there systems corrected from what I can tell.

Just make sure it's always online.

You can do factory reset on the RBR if you need more immediate access. Otherwise you'll need to wait for NG to push something or make contact with NG support and ask to get this patch.
