Port Forwarding Problem

I just changed my ISP from Cox (cable internet) to Gonetspeed (FTTH). I have security cameras that I used to be able to access from anywhere when I had Cox cable. I subscribe to a DDNS service. I set up port forwarding on the cable modem. Everything worked well. Until ... I changed my ISP.

ISP installed the ONT device. I hooked up the Orbi RBR850 router and the satellite. I configured my LAN and all my devices are able to access the internet with no problem. My internet setup gives me an IP address of : 10.8.80.xxx; Subnet Mask 255.255.240.0; Gateway IP address of 10.8.80.1.

When I was unable to access my security cameras from outside the LAN, I found out that my WAN IP address is 38.135.8.xxx ... which  different from the above (10.8.80.xxx).

Now I am stumped, I don't know how to fix my router setup to view my security cameras from outside. Can anybody help me, please?

Many thanks in advance.

Vir

Re: Port Forwarding Problem

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too? Built in router here by chance? IF so, This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

Re: Port Forwarding Problem

Thank you for your response and your suggestions. Replying to your questions:

Firmware Version: V3.2.16.22_1.4.9

ONT is labeled Nokia but found a brochure for same model G-010G-A but brochure is from Alcatel Lucent.

I will look into your suggested next steps and reach out to my ISP since I don't have access to the ONT config. If they could bridge the  modem, everything else would be within my capabilities. Beyond that, I would be treading very carefully.

Thank you so much for giving me some directions.

Happy New Year!

Re: Port Forwarding Problem

Ok, have the ISP check for NAT at the ONT or anything in between the ONT and the Orbi RBR. Default IP address string for NG is 192.168.1.1 and if your seeing 10.someting on the WAN or LAN side of the Orbi router, this means something up stream from the Orbi is using 192.168.1.1 and Orbi is changing to avoid a conflict.

Re: Port Forwarding Problem

Noted ... thanks, again!

Is it OK with you if I forward our exchange to my ISP?

Re: Port Forwarding Problem

Not sure thats needed. Something to ask the ISP about. If your in a signal NAT condition, you should need much if any PF configurations. Only use that where needed would be best recommendation.
