Re: RBR850 debug screen No Telnet Option

I would like to confirm with you, the oldest version you mentioned is 3.1.5.23?

Also would you please list out the procedure of downgrading the firmware?

such as, downgrade RBR/RBS first?

Many thanks.

If you downgrade, downgrade the RBS first then RBR lastly. Same FW update proceedures for manually updating FW on Orbi.

Re: RBR850 debug screen No Telnet Option

Sorry for so many questions, I would like to ask one more question, if I change the SSID for 2.4G in V3.2.15.25_1.3.15, and the RNR will auto update to the latest version, so will my configuration still applied after the RBR auto update?

Yes.

Re: RBR850 debug screen No Telnet Option

IF the FW auto updates to recent version, telnet options will be removed.

RBR850    How to set 2.4G and 5G ssdi separately?

Re: RBR850 debug screen No Telnet Option

Separation of SSIDs is not supported on Orbi systems.

Re: RBR850 debug screen No Telnet Option

I have found that firmware v3.2.18 does not appear to allow you to down grade firmware any longer as it warns you are doing so and ONLY allows you one option of "NO" to proceed.

This is really starting to go the wrong direction with firmware updates.. I purchased these as they had more control over network config than Googles WiFi mesh system offered via just an app .. this is very disapointing to say the least !

RBR50 telnet works with just enabing telnet under the debug.htm. The telnet enabler isn't needed.

Not with V2.7.3.22 it doesn't.

Upgrade the Firmware to V3.2.10.10 for both Router and the Satellite if you want telnet.

Re: RBR850 debug screen No Telnet Option

Is it possible that this post has co-mingled two different Orbi models:

  • RBR50, which had telnet on the debug screen until V2.7.3.22 took it away.
This model can enable telnet using the Python script.
  • RBR850, which has not had telnet for some time.
And I have no idea if the Python script works on this model or not.

Re: RBR850 debug screen No Telnet Option

Yes, I didn't catch that. Good catch CrimpOn. That version he posted is for the RBS50 series. The one I posted is for the Orbi 8 series which was last version of FW that supported Telnet.

If it could at one point, it seems it can't anymore. Certainly not working with my RBR50.

Re: RBR850 debug screen No Telnet Option

You have to downgrade to a previous version. I think v104 still had telnet.

NG seems to be removing telnet from Orbi systems.

@CrimpOnwas specifically talking about using the Python script to enable telnet. There's no need to use that if it can be enabled via the debug page.

Re: RBR850 debug screen No Telnet Option

Give it a try. There is a Windows Telnet Enabler.exe as well that may work.

It doesn't work on Orbi AX systems.

I gave it a try, which is why I posted that it didn't work. Nor did either of the Windows programs.

Re: RBR850 debug screen No Telnet Option

Then try downgrading FW to bring telnet back in.

If Netgear has permanently removed telnet going foward, downgrading isn't really a workable solution, as it means being stuck on that release forever.
