RBR750 RBS750 (X2) Fix that "solved" my 4.6.3.16 nightmares WIFI 6
Good Morning,
I as well recently suffered an non usable condition on my home network and became determined to find the issue.
Issue: rbr/s750 since 4.6.3.16 firmware forced update using channel bonding AND LATER NOT USING CHANNEL BONDING 1.5Gb service via cable Network became unusable due to reboots and drop offs occuring as rapidly as every 4 minutes.
Process: After spending 12 hours pouring over hundreds of pages of log files from multiple log file collections from the "hidden" router DEBUG PAGE , ROUTER ip xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/debug.htm
I developed the working theory that it was related to the backchannel somehow.
More detailed process. step 1 backup config of router even though I have this stuff memorized due to constantly having to jack with netgear equiptment due to reliability problems.
step 2: use the dd wrt router reset proceedures.
step 3: manually re-install the 4.6.3.16 downloaded update. according to instructions provided by netgear.OH god no not their support I dont even bother with them anymore.
step 4 manually reconfigure router and sats
Step 5 Load up the debug page captured a log
shut down the page and waited and sure as sh*t took no time at all the system bounced.
Step 6 As soon as it was back online Reloaded the debug page captured a log.
step 7 repeat 5 and six with random log captures
step 8 caught one just as it was bouncing and captured the log pure luck
step 9 18 pots of coffee and hundreds of pages later I disconnected the satellites
WHAT DO YOU KNOW system stability returned.
100% uptime for 72 hours.
Time to mess things up.
Step 10 a single sat. started a debug log everything was fine for ABOUT 45 minutes. I was Monitoring the sat. overview page and recording random logs and BAM down again. ok may its the logging ..HAHAHA not a chance.
Step 11 disconnected sat.... stability returned. Bad sat???? NOPE
step 12 swapped the sat with the second one. 42 minutes later Down again (no log running this time not monitoring the sat screen )(you do know you can view this stupid almost zero info picture they call a monitor or admin page or whatever regardless it's just a way to manually update sat. firmware)
Step 13. Remove second sat. GUESS WHAT stability returned.
Stability has been 100% at with 54 devices Fully integrated Smart home with Ring security, ring Cameras back up Arlo security system, CCTV net connected system, personal internet cloud hosting, 7 Alexas and Newest PS and XBOX all running and voip and internet streaming multi services. utilizing MAX bandwidth utilization
RESULT Not a single hiccup for 24 hours.
I know it sucks but do you want to use the internet your paying so dearly for?
Disconnect the Sats until Netgear can get its head out of their proverbial asses
***you may need to do full router reset (aka DD-WRT reset 30-30-30 and manually reload of firmware to get this to work as I did.***
NETGEAR BALLS IN YOUR COURT
But this solved it for me.
If this helps one person then I am happy.......
