Additional Satellite to WiFi 7 970 Series
I just hooked up the ORBI WiFi 7 970 Series router with 2 satellites. All are hard wired (Backhaul). I was gonig to add an additional satellite at the other end of the house, but it will not be hard wired. Is this possible? Will the additional satellite piggy back from the closest satellite?

Yes
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router 📡 and satellite(s)🛰️? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR 📡 and RBS 🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected.

You must have a massive house to need 3x satellites. They provide quite a bit of coverage, and you can actually make speeds/roaming worse with too much coverage.

Size of home is 2500 square ft. Router is in basement and both satellites are upstairs. They are hard wired back to the router. Distance shouldn't be an issue since they are hard wired. I wanted to add one more satellite downstairs hard wired back to the router as well so the other side of basement is covered. I have cement floors on first floor.

It's just when I walk further from the satellite, I notice the wifi get weaker and I am less than 30ft from it.

Re: Additional Satellite to WiFi 7 970 Series
What sort of resources do you have to record WiFi signal levels?
Windows laptop, Chromebook, Android tablet all have free applications which can be used to map WiFi signal levels and document what is going on.
For example, my Orbi is located where the Spectrum cable enters the house in an upstairs bedroom. For some time, (someone in my family unit) would comment, "The WiFi is horrible when I am in (a) the dining room, (b) the corner of the living room, or (c) outside on the front porch. Running a Heat Map application on an Android tablet produced this:
Notice that downstairs (directly below the router) the WiFi signal was great. In those areas of concern, WiFi signal was terrible. (Hence the complaints.) Satellites to the rescue!
