I wonder how many people, me being one, have Apple TVs on their networks.

Glad the RMA fixed it. Please mark your thread as solved so others will know. Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.

Tried it too- no better... still rebooting.
To me it almost seems if there is an increase in attenuation, the router drops off. Fios has been to my house 7 times since buying the 970. Fios blames router, router seems fine... no body knows.
I wonder if there is some sort of firmware bug that takes place during DHCP renewal? or if the signal degrades past a threshold that the router drops off?
Just guessing- not an expert, just having the exact same, ongoing problem.
Every day I have to reconnect a switch, a camera, etc... What an awful experience this has ended up being with this mesh system.

Does the front LED on the RBR turn on PINK or RED when this happens?
- CaptiveBoltFeb 01, 2024AspirantHey Furry, the router starts off blinking white the slow blinks white then once a link is established, it goes off… at the same times the satellites start off magenta, then blink white, then light blue, then go off… usually takes 2 or 3 minutes.

OK.
How many times has this happened?
- CaptiveBoltFeb 02, 2024AspirantThis is what it’s been doing for the past month of owning it- lost count.

I recommend you get in contact with NG support and ask about an RMA.
https://my.netgear.com/support/contact.aspx
https://www.netgear.com/support/contact.aspx
Then clicking on "Get answers about NETGEAR products before I buy" then clicking on "Networking for Home" then "Chat with us".I see one other in this forum just go there RMA that had same random reboot issue. Lets see if NG can get you a new system.
- CaptiveBoltFeb 02, 2024AspirantThanks for the information- will do this today.
So this seems to be indicative of a hardware issue?
Thanks Furry. - FURRYe38Feb 02, 2024Guru - Experienced User
Not sure what is causing these ransom reboots for some while others don't see this. Anything is possible.
Keep us posted on progress with RMA.
- CaptiveBoltFeb 03, 2024AspirantPlease keep us posted. I did what tech support said to do and rolled back the fw and am still having reboots. Im hoping they can fix it with a certified fw update.

Please disconnect the RBS from the switch and let them wirelessly connect if thats possible. Then observe the system.

Hey Furry- Still getting disconnects. Did you ever hear if mhbare's RMA fixed their issue? Seems like that user disappeared.
Just emailed tech support I am waiting for them to tell me to load a new firmware, or go through with the RMA. I keep getting an email saying my case is still open, even though I did what they told me to and am still getting the disconnects. Thanks.

Ask support about a cross RMA option.

Hi Furry,
Thank you for always taking the time to follow up first of all.
To make a very, very long story short, turns out, all of the reboot issues were chalked up to my RBE971 being a total lemon. They RMA'ed it after having a ticket open for over a month, changing ISPs, and sending extensive logs in, trying beta FWs, rolling FW back... and after all of that, I have not had a single reboot for going on 2 weeks with the new router. So if youre using deductive reasoning, it's pretty clear the original router had faulty hardware.
It's just a shame that after investing so much money in a system, that a customer can go through such an ordeal.
A lot of the hoops I had to jump through were done on the basis of good faith, and trying to have confidence in Netgear. That being said, this was probably the worst experience I have had with any piece of technology I can think of, ever.
Had you not recommended I inquire about the RMA process I probably would have still been dealing with more of those hoops, so thank you very much.
