I too am getting these random reboots
Hi,
I too am getting these random reboots. Furry helped me a month or so ago with the wired back haul where a sat was wired but backhauling wirelessly. This has since worked properly, but I am having these random reboots too. We have the 3 pack Orbi 970. Isp is frontier Fios, and they were here actually today on the date of this post. The tech saw that we had cat 5E at the TV box, and removed the MOCA, turned it off on the ONT, and had the ONT provisioned for ethernet, connected it from tv box outside directly to ONT and patched that cable into my Oribi router directly at the house's smart/ patch panel. He did a cable length test on this one solitary cat 5e cable (in the TV box that runs to patch panel) and got 30 ft, so it's very very short and should be plenty. After all that it seemed to be good, of course after the tech is gone... and I just got a reboot about 45 minutes ago, and low and behold there is a recent post about this issue.
I don't think any other tech took the time to trace the ethernet cable in the tv box until this one did, and the trace and wire integrity was good.
Right now the orbi router is hardwired directly to the ONT- no moca and we are still getting these reboots.
Could this be totally related to firmware? Also, I wonder if people who own this system are not observing if this happening or not, because unless you have a bunch of devices connected to it, like IOT stuff, that ends up not being responsive, you might not even realize it. Say for example, if youre not home. The reboots happen pretty fast, and it's back online. What this is effecting a lot smart home things that do not reconnect. What I realized while it happens, is say you have 30 or so IOT devices on your network, 1, 2, or 3 disconnect, and don't reconnect- this coincides with these random reboots.
It is very frustrating that we invested the money in this system... thinking it would be rock solid, and honestly it's been a nightmare.
I don't think it should be this hard, having to jump through hoops to get this setup to work properly. Frontier has been to my house 4 times since I bought it a month ago.
Please help Netgear.

Re: I too am getting these random reboots
Have you seen the new FW thats now available?
If you haven't updated yet, I recommend it. Manually update the RBS first the RBR lastly using a wired PC and web browser.

Re: I too am getting these random reboots
I recommend after the units are updated, Power them OFF along with the ISP modem/ONT for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP equipment first, then RBR, then RBS. Give about 5-10 minutes and system should be ready for operation. Observe from there.
Also Brand and model # of your ISP equipment please.

Re: I too am getting these random reboots
Just texted you on that other thread about Apple TVs-
as of right now- I disconnected the ethernet cable from my orbi satellite to a 2018 model Apple TV, last night at around 1800 and have had no disconnects as of right now.
I installed the fw update you and buzz mentioned a few days ago. fingers crossed.
But check out this other thread post I found https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8150492?page=2&sortBy=best

Good to hear.
Let us know if you see any more disconnects. You shouldn't.
