RBE770 & RBE771 - satellite stops providing connection
I have the RBE770 Router with one RBE771 satellite (placed around 30 feet away, up one floor) in a standard 4-bed house. Regularly (sometimes multiple times per day) the satellite simply stops wo...

Agreed doesn't make sense. No devices are showing connected to that satellite and yet the admin is still reachable and it shows as connected. The attached devices page of the router shows it as disconnected.

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6A STP is recommended.
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router 📡 and satellite(s)🛰️? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR 📡 and RBS 🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected.

I recommend reaching out to NG support and ask about a beta FW that maybe available to you to try out.

V10.5.13.1_2.2.34
All high quality cabling here. Distance is within grange and exact same location as previous Orbi 850 series with 2 sats I had prior to buying these. Oddly some devices were actually still connected via the satellite and were working even though the router reports the sat as disconnected.
I have tried so-called Netgear support before and they struggle to understand what I am talking about and suggest steps a six year old might suggest. Like are the lights on in your house? Is it raining? Did you reboot the router? OMG

No devices connected via ethernet. That in fact is another issue I have with this 770 series. If I do connect any device to the satellite, then the router reports that satellite as wired, when it is not. Also reported a while back to support to no avail.
This feels like a beta product, and I know as I have been a beta-tester for Netgear for many years.
- DK21Mar 10, 2025StarI hear you on the “feels like a beta product” comment. My assumption is that these are firmware problems, so it would be nice if they’d start releasing some firmware updates to make this perform as you’d expect for the price.
Oddly, while my problem has been reliably happening once per week, it of course is mostly behaving once support asked me to get debug logs…and they finally stopped asking me for floor plans of my house.

a) 1 device was right next to the satellite and was working fine
b) when I unplugged the satellite that device immediately went flashing orange (offline)

When the satellite was upstairs it was around 40 feet from the router, now it's downstairs and almost exactly 30 feet from the router.
I'm running V10.5.13.1

And is the RBS working better or still exhibiting problems?

It took around 10 days for the satellite to drop all of its connections, so longer than usual. Usually it's every 2-3 days. I don't know if that's because I moved it or something else changed though.
