WIFI 7 IS NOT SHOWING UP ON MY DEVICES

Ok I made an equerry about my device not giving wifi 7 on a particular phone which at the time was the latest google pixel 9 pro xl, So I went and bought the latest Samsung s25 ultra and what comes up is wifi6 If these are automatic I went to all three devices stood beside them switch the phone over to them and wifi 6 is what shows up anybody else having this issue? When I search in the wifi section I see a wifi 7 signal but it is not from my router, goes to show the phone is very much capable of showing the wifi 7 sign.

I don't have a phone or pad that supports WIFI7, however both of my desktop PCs have Intel BE200 PCIe series WIFI7 cards installed and both see WIFI7 and MLO when connected.

I might contact Samsung about this as well.

Oh, my.  The Orbi primary SSID shows up on the S25 Ultra list of WiFi networks with a "6" inside the symbol instead of a "7"?  (as in this video)

@FURRYe38  I notice the phone is connecting on the 2.4 network automatically And that seem to be the issue

Would be as WiFI7 would not be seen there. Only with the device connected to the system using both 5 and 6Ghz.

I'd make contact with Samsung about this.

Have any other WiFi7 devices to check this?

I seem to remember reading somewhere that Netgear did not implement WiFi7 on the 2.4G WiFi channel.  (That would seem to be a sensible approach since all those existing Internet of Things gizmos have 2.4G radios that cannot be updated and no company is likely to spend money designing WiFi7 into something intended to be "cheap".)

Surely the phone displays every WiFi network that has a decent signal, including the primary WiFi for the Orbi system? (including 5G and 6G WiFi channels).

I notice that upon returning home, my phone seems to connect to a satellite in the garage at 2.4G.  I have climbed the stairs to sit four feet from the router and observed the phone still connected at 2.4G until, "poof", it switches to 5G.  As with other aspects of the Orbi, my system does not appear to update the Attached Devices (or 'app' Connected Devices) information instantly.  It seems to take several minutes.

Perhaps there are several issues:

  • Does this specific Orbi 970 support WiFi7?
  • Why do the Pixel 9 Pro XL and the Galaxy S25 Ultra not display the "7" in WiFi icons for the Orbi primary WiFi?
  • Why does this Galaxy S25 connect at 2.4G rather then 5G or 6G?

Re: WIFI 7 IS NOT SHOWING UP ON MY DEVICES

ALL BE series Orbi systems support WIFI7 (BE). Same with other mgr model systems that carry the WiFI7(BE) model. W7 or MLO is only supported on 5 and 6Ghz frequencies.
