All Orbi's (router and satellites) broadcast (to user devices) on both 2.4G and 5G channels.
The "backhaul" connection between router and satellites is a separate 5G channel that is chosen to avoid interfering with the user connections. Satellites will "fall back" to a 2.4G backhaul if the 5G backhaul signal falls off too much.
