Anyone have a RBK23?

I am looking for a Mesh solution for a new house.  I saw the RBK23 model and am intersted in it.  The house is three floors but the top floor is just a bonus room.  So, I would place one unit on each floor.  House is ~3,000 sq. ft.

I like that the RBK23 is compact also.

Anyone use them?

Any chance i will get some signal in the garage and even to the backyard?

THanks for any help.

You should look at the specs of each Orbi system to see wheather or not it meets your needs:

Each model does about the same thing, however some of the wifi specs differs...

Re: Anyone have a RBK23?

Thanks  FURRYe38

I have looked over the specs and this one exceeds what I need as far as my house.  SO, I was hoping that signal would carry at least a little bit to the garage and back yard.  And it's in my budget.

Can you tell me if I would get better signal strenght (or any other advatage) by connecting each satellite with cat 5 instead of just wireless?  Would a switch (a tp link metal 8 port, not a managed switch) cause any issues with this setup?  I would most likely have the modem going into the main Orbi and then a cat5 going out of the orbi going into a switch.  Then two ports of the switch would go into separate rooms on separate floors into another switch and then into the satellites.

Re: Anyone have a RBK23?

Depends on the distance from the router or satellite out to your garage. I got great singal from my friends RBK50 system at his house after I got it setup. I left that day and got in my car which was at least 30 feet from the house. I had full signal and internet access with my phone sitting in the car. Not sure if the 23 series has the same power though...

I prefer wired anything over wireless if there is a possibity of using it. Yes, use of non managed switches should not effect the Orbi. I have several connected with mine and two in between my router and 1 satellite. Zero issues.

Re: Anyone have a RBK23?

Thanks again for all the help.

The main unit will be in a closet not far inside the front door.  And it sorta backs up to the garage.  So, really close, but I hate that it has to be in a closet.

As far as the back yard goes, that's a bit further but I'm also hoping the satellite on the second floor will be close"ish" to the back side of the house.

Worse case scenrio is I will eventually buy one of the outdoor units.  But that will not be connected via cat5.

Re: Anyone have a RBK23?

You have to try it out and see if it works for you. Keep us posted on how it goes...

It should work, but you may have to play with where to place them for optimal coverage.  The Wireless backhaul gives you flexibility with positioning the Satellites -- it doesn't have to be near a jack and can be placed near a window to cover the outside area.
