Bad performance Orbi RBR20 with Unitymedia / Vodafone Station

Hi,

I am using a Vodafone Station with an Orbi20. Lately the wifi performance has dropped from about 200 to 50, whereby I signed up for a 500 line.

Please advise if you are experiencing similar issues.

Thanks & best regards

Re: Bad performance Orbi RBR20 with Unitymedia / Vodafone Station

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and 📡 satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS📡 to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

Try enabling Beamforming and MIMO(MIMO may or may not be needed) and WMM. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings

Try disabling the following and see:
Armor, Circle, Traffic Meter, Daisy Chain, Fast Roaming, IPv6 and Set 20/40Mhz Coexistence to 40Mhz only. Set CTS to 2347. Save settings and reboot the router and satellite(s). Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings

Re: Bad performance Orbi RBR20 with Unitymedia / Vodafone Station

Thanks for your feedback.

I am actually on the latest firmware version: V2.7.3.22

It seems to be that devices connect to 5G only if the device is really close (2m) to the Orbi. Otherwise the device will connect to 2.4G. Therefore the measured performance is very limited. I assume that the firmeware update has caused a different behavior as previously.

Thanks & best regards

Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed?

Please give feedback to the other questions...

Yes - no changes and a friend of mine is facing the same issue.

Really doesn't help answer questions that were asked.

So try reverting FW versions then.

Re: Bad performance Orbi RBR20 with Unitymedia / Vodafone Station

So does the ISP Modem have a built in router and wifi already?

Do you have Armor or Circle enabled on the RBR?

Re: Bad performance Orbi RBR20 with Unitymedia / Vodafone Station

Your ISP Modem already has a built in router and wifi. This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop
