Better to use Network Cable between satellite and iMac or settle for class N speed
My IMac is connecting to the satellite just fine, and the satellite speed is good.
However the iMac is late 2012, so no 802.11ac. I see the signal floats between 54Mbps and 120 Mbps
As a comparison, my MacBook, which does have 802.11ac support, floats at around 200-600Mbps
Would I do better to plug a network cable into the back of the satallite and connect to the iMac (which has a 1Gb ethernet port). Or am I adding a cable for nothing (#ihatecables)
Not sure how to measure the improvement once I do.

Definitely a cable. Always cable everything you can.
You can measure performance with iperf3 between your iMac and another computer. This measures actual network data throughput, not just WIFi sync speed.
