Cannot access Xfinity App or oauth.xfinity.com

I have the ORBI RBR40 Router and recently it stopped allowing me to access my Xfinity apps (or more specifically, oauth.xfinity.com). I am unable to login to my xfinity account online and not able to use the Xfinity app on my iPhone or iPad. If I turn of WiFi, everything works fine and I am able to access all apps and my xfinity account on LTE. Just not on the Orbi WiFi. If I go somewhere else and connect via WiFi, everything works fine. It's only when I am connected to our Orbi network.

I have tried turning off different switches, etc. The really strange thing is that it was working before just fine. It "seems" like it only happened after the latest firmware update. Although it is hard to tell. I can't reach support so, I thought I would post here.

Is that (literally) https://oauth.xfinity.com?  I just tried https://auth.xfinity.com and https://oauth.xfinity.com with Firefox with my Orbi and failed to reach either site.

Re: Cannot access Xfinity App or oauth.xfinity.com

It resolves to the oauth.xfinity.com eventually. The steps I am seeing is that I go to Xfinity.com, then tap on the "Sign in" or "My Account" link. It will try and go to oauth.xfinity.com and then fail. Do the same thing on your phone on LTE and it will work fine and you will be able to sign in just fine (you will eventually get past the oauth.xfinity.com and get to login.xfinity.com).

Another thing to try, if you download the Xfinity stream app. Tap on the "Get Started" button. That page that pops up will also error out. Do the same thing on LTE and it works fine.

Re: Cannot access Xfinity App or oauth.xfinity.com

Oh, heck.  I'm not an Xfinity customer, so I do not get that far.  Bummer.

Just for fun, can you check whether your system now has Parental Controls and/or Armor activated?

I believe they came with the most recent update.

I deliberately chose not to activate either.

(Not saying this has anything to do with this situation, but would like to know.)

Re: Cannot access Xfinity App or oauth.xfinity.com

Parental Controls are enabled (I am the parent). I tried to disable all of the parental controls and disabled and removed Circle, etc and then rebooted the router but that didn't help. I did, originally, have the Armor Security thing activated (just while it was on trial - to test it out). But, I didn't subscribe to it. I stopped using that. Although, I do think right after that trial ended was close to when my problems with Xfinity login started happening. Just not sure what can be done about it (I am trying to avoid a factory reset). Thanks!

Re: Cannot access Xfinity App or oauth.xfinity.com

You Disabled Parental Controls, (clicked "Apply"), did a reboot and:

  • Parental Controls came back, or
  • Still could not log in to Xfinity?

Re: Cannot access Xfinity App or oauth.xfinity.com

Parental controls were turned off (correctly). But, I was still not able to login to Xfinity or use the apps. In other words, didn't matter if parental controls were on or off. I could not access xfinity login area or access the apps.

Also, before the Armor thing, I was able to access Xfinity login area and the apps just fine (with parental controls off or on). Something from the Armor test must have tripped up something and now it is stuck perhaps? It is the only thing I can think of since I don't general go in and mess with the settings of the router at all. The Armor feature was the last thing I recall trying and then after that trial ended, xfinity apps and login stopped working (or close to around that time).

Re: Cannot access Xfinity App or oauth.xfinity.com

Another random thought.  Can you try changing your DNS setting to Manual and put in Google's DNS servers, 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

Parental Controls have to be off to do this.

About Armor: there is a community forum devoted to Armor and asking the Xfinity question in that forum might get a reponse.

https://community.netgear.com/t5/NETGEAR-Armor/bd-p/en-home-armor I do not know if a test period "expiring" means it turns off..... or what?

Re: Cannot access Xfinity App or oauth.xfinity.com

I just tried your suggestion. That didn't work either (I thought that was a good suggestion though!)

I went over to that other forum and searched for Xfinity. Sure enough, there are other people with this exact same issue. I posted the same question there. I will see what they say and see if the issue can get resolved. Thanks for all your help!

Re: Cannot access Xfinity App or oauth.xfinity.com

Has this issue ever been resolved?   I reset my Orbi/Satellite a few months ago to fix this issue with connecting to oauth.xfinity.com which is an HTTPS site.  I even updated my advanced settings to prevent HTTS from being blocked.  I still have issues connecting for paying bills or when Showtime Anytime wants me to update my credentials to keep being able to use it.   I have to use my mobile phone anytime I want to do anything related to Xfinity account services because of this glitch.

I really really really don't want to keep resetting the router just to access this site.

Re: Cannot access Xfinity App or oauth.xfinity.com

What Firmware is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem the NG router is connected too? Built in router here by chance? If so, This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

Re: Cannot access Xfinity App or oauth.xfinity.com

This has nothing to do with the Modem and Bridge mode. I have a Arliss modem (not an Xfinity modem) and I *still* am unable to login to the Xfinity site. Only when I use my LTE data connection through my phone or iPad then I can login just fine.

I also created a hot spot on my phone and test the LTE hot spot and it worked on my desktop as well. It is only when I use the Orbi router do I run into this issue. And this issue only started after I tried the "Armour" trial (if anyone is reading this - DO NOT try the Netgear Armor trial. It really messes up your router majorly).

Why can't Netgear get this fixed? This has been an ongoing issue for months now with no resolution other than "reset".

Re: Cannot access Xfinity App or oauth.xfinity.com

This particular Netgear community forum attracts customers who have the residential WiFi Orbi mesh systems.  There is another forum for the Nighthawk line of WiFi routers.

If the problem began today and nothing has changed in regard to the WiFi router (C7100v), then the problem is unlikely to relate to the router.  Surely in the past several months the Xfinity help line must have dealt with many customers who have this problem.

What do they say?

What is the mfr and model of your router? IF this is regarding the C7100v cable gateway, please post about this in the cable modem forum:

https://community.netgear.com/t5/Cable-Modems-Routers/bd-p/home-cable-modems-routers

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

Re: Cannot access Xfinity App or oauth.xfinity.com on AC1900 Cable Modem Voice Router Model C7100V

Resolved issue by restarting Netgear modem - then going to Incognito/Private browser pages in Firefox then Safari, then normal pages in both, then to normal page in Chrome. Weird but it worked. Someone at Netgear tech staff needs help. Thanks for your reply.

Please post what model# NG product you have.

This is a Orbi AC wifi mesh systems forum.

Please post in the correct forum for your modem if its a NG modem.

Good Luck.
