Currently have Orbi AC3000 RBR50 Plus 1 satellite question on adding 2nd
Hello,
I currently have the AC3000 Plus 1 Satellite, I get good reception however I would like to get one more Satellite to hopefully increase bandwith in the house. Which Satellite would be my best option and are they interchangeable?
Thank so much
Cheers

Re: Currently have Orbi AC3000 RBR50 Plus 1 satellite question on adding 2nd
All of the original "residential" Orbi satellites are compatible (not "Pro", not "AX", and not the RBS10 model)
My personal pick for "Best Buy" is the RBS40V which Amazon has been selling for $100. (less than any other satellite, and readily available.)

Re: Currently have Orbi AC3000 RBR50 Plus 1 satellite question on adding 2nd
Great thank you Ill look into that one. I currently have the main Orbi (router) on one side of the house and the satelite and the opposite side of the house. Would putting one in the middle would increase over all bandwith?
I have a Gig going into the router, and have a desktop hardwired to the satellite. When I test the speeds its getting around 300mbs. does that seem normal, and will a 2nd satellite in the middle help boost my speeds?
Thanks again for all your help
Cheers

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

Re: Currently have Orbi AC3000 RBR50 Plus 1 satellite question on adding 2nd
2600sq/ft theres probably 40-50ft between the router and the satellite. Also the router is upstairs and the satellite is downstairs.
Thanks again for your help!

I would review this to see if you can help tune your current system. https://community.netgear.com/t5/Orbi/Most-Stable-Orbi-Configuration/m-p/1941087/highlight/true#M970...
Your current system with 1 RBS should work well for the size of home you have. I have a 5000sq ft home and use just 1 RBS, though I have an additional RBS if I need one.

I have the RBR50 and RBS50. RBR is the router and the RBS is the satellite.

Re: Currently have Orbi AC3000 RBR50 Plus 1 satellite question on adding 2nd
Hi there,
so I did everything in the list and my Satellite is still coming in at 360mbs, with a Gig coming in to the router. The Satellite is a good 40 feet away from the router.

That the speed rate your testing with a wireless device, if so, then thats in the ball park for 5Ghz AC performance which is good. You'll not see anything near 900Mpbs on 5Ghz Wifi. Devices usually cap at around 400-500Mpbs depending upon design and support. Nature of the beast.

Probably same. That also depends on the connection rate between the RBS and RBR. Building materials and distance will be a factor.
