DOS attack

Have looked at the log in my RBK40 wifi and found out that there are many DoS attacks and port scans detected, is there any ways to minimize these?

Re: DOS attack

The Internet is a dangerous place. There will almost always be someone or something attempting to break into your network. Fortunately, that's what the firewall on your router is for. It will drop that traffic. The problem is this, that traffic can still clog your Internet connection.

Unfortunately, there's not much you can do to stop the traffic from arriving at your router. About the thing that can help is to get a new IP address from your ISP. It's usually futile to ask your ISP to do this, so I wouldn't bother asking them.

Sometimes, people have luck by changing the router's MAC address, but there is no guarantee that this will work. On the Orbi, the MAC address can be changed under Internet settings. Look for "Router MAC address". Usually changing the last digit or will work. But you can change it to something completely different, like the MAC address of one of your devices.

Note: Even if you are able to successfully change your IP address, this may not stop the attacks. If you are a gamer and you happened to piss off someone you play with, they could very well find your new IP address the next time you play with them and resume their attacks. Then you would be back at square one.
