Daisy Chain Vs Star Topology - Performance

I previously had a Star Chain Topolgy but ever since I moved the router, the network has switched to a Daisy Chain Topolgy. My question is if this is going to impact the performance in any way as my devices are now connecting to the connected Satellite at a lower speed. However, the colour on the satellites in the network is green for both.

P.S. I have a RBR50 router and 2 RBS50 satellites.

Thanks for the reply. I did detect a slight difference when playing You Tube. Nonetheless I wasnt too comfortable about having one satellite dependent on the other so I moved the router back to its original position and in no time, the network switched to a star topology. Thanks once again

Re: Daisy Chain Vs Star Topology - Performance

There definitely will be greater "latency" because the packets have another "hop" to pass through.  As a practical matter, it may not be noticable.  A web page may take a half second longer to finish loading.  It's a pretty easy thing to experiment with. Move close to the "near" satellite and do some things.  Open some web pages.  Play a YouTube video.  Clear the browser cache. Move close to the "far" satellite and do the same things.  Do you detect an obvious difference in performance?

Be sure to make a backup configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.

Enjoy. Smiley Wink
