Does switching to AP mode disable mesh networking or Steering features?

I'm liking the improved range and so on, but I would rather use my own router and I have a pi-hole providing DHCP/DNS.
If I switch from Router mode to AP mode, does Orbi continue to do mesh networking, band/ap steering etc. still work?
How about ethernet backhaul?

No. MESH and ethernet work fine in AP mode.
If you connect the satellite(s) via eithernet, just be aware that the wireless backhaul is no usable even when connected ethernet. Just how NG or the MESH developers designed Orbi. It works well though. Mine connected wired.
