How is orbi labelled AC3000?

I bought a set of Orbi and i am still wondering how to achieve AC3000 (which is 3000 Mbps) when the 2.4 GHz states max 400 Mbps and 5 Ghz states 866.6Mbps. Total is only 1266 Mbps

Please advise

regards

You forgot to add in the backhaul 5Ghz speed. The backhaul 5GHz band can reach maximum speeds of 1,733Mbps.

2.4=400
5Ghz=867
5Ghz backhaul=1733
Total = 3000

Hope that helps.

Re: How is orbi labelled AC3000?

Wow. Is this how they calculate the AC3000? But we cant use the backhaul.

If i have know that the speed for 2.4GHz and 5 GHz is soooo slow, i would have opted for other solutions.

Other brands are able to push their 2.4GHz to up to 800 Mbps or 1000Mbps and the 5 GHz to 1.3 GHz or more

I wish Netgear can push up the speed for these 2 frequencies via firmware update.

Another wish list is to use a wired backhaul and free up the wireless backhaul.

sigh.. should have bought ubiquiti instead.....

Ubiquiti is good, but not known for peak speed.  The only Ubiquiti product that would be faster than the Orbi is the AP-AC-HD and it costs $349 per AP, so almost twice the price of Orbi.

Some recent test results here, including Orbi, Ubiquiti, and others.
