How to Upgrade from Version V2.1.4.16_1.1.31 - Orbi RBR50 ISP Provided

Hello All,

I have gone through few posts in forum to update my curret orbi RBR50 device that is running version V2.1.4.16_1.1.31 to the netgear latest FW.

Orbi Device is provided by ISP and they are not supporting for FW updates.

Any Techies have any idea how to update from, Tried Manual update & TFTP method (orange light is not glowing as the device is not bricked )both no luck.

Appreciate any help...

Try this method, this differs abit from the other link I included:

https://kb.netgear.com/000059634/How-to-upload-firmware-to-a-NETGEAR-router-using-Windows-TFTP

Need to press the reset button for 30 seconds then release, then it send to PUT the command and upload the FW.

I had a problem on a Windows 10 PC where this didn't work to use TFTP, so I switched to a WIndows 7 PC and the TFTP worked. However I don't have a ISP Orbi. Mines NG stock.

Is there any way like Jaibreak/Root the ISP lock to load the stock NG FW.

As far as this is NG device so i think there would be some way to load stock FW. Can the NG support team will help...??

If you tried the TFTP method and it doesn't work, then the system is locked by the ISP and probably can't be changed.

Do you own or rent this Orbi from your ISP?  If it is rented, then the FW is what they are supporting and you should only work with your ISP for support of it.  If you purchased it from your ISP, then contact your them to request they unlock it so that you can update the firmware.

I have purchased this from ISP, they will not unlock it or release new FW.

Glad it worked. Now you can use NG stock FW.
