IS the satellite directional? IOW- does it matter which way its facing?
Probably a dumb question:
Does it matter which way the orbi satelite/router faces?
Does the signal radiate equally well it all directions (forward vs towards the rear of the unit)?

It's not a dumb question - I don't know of any published document on that. Some manufacturers do publish the coverage around the device. You can probably do a test with a hand held scanner, but you would probably need something specialized to not be affected by other wifi around it.

Probably not. Distance and signal attenuation are the main factors. That said I watched some YouTube videos explaining antennas and beam forming. But It's still black magic witchcraft to me. Also, I read a review where they opened a unit showing antenna locations.
