Is Orbi Still Dropping Connections?

I'm think of getting a set Orbi devices.  The only bad thing I read about them is, for some people, they drop connections.  This appear to be a long running problem that seems to continues to this day.  Is that true? Has this been fixed?

Re: Is Orbi Still Dropping Connections?

Some problems are mis-configurations of the Orbi. Some are environment causes problems. Some are ISP caused issues. There are good success stories of Orbis working well. We have endeavoured to find the problems and resolve them for the Orbi and there users who post here about them.

My friends Orbi I setup a while back has Zero issues since day one:

Items to be aware of are ISM modem/router combo units:

This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

Use of Manged switches or smart switches with green ethernet features don't seem to work well with Orbi.

30 feet is recommended in between Orbi base router and satellite(s) to begin with depending upon building materials.
