Netgear Orbi RBR20 hardwire speed issues
I recently upgraded my internet setrvice to 750/750. I plugged my laptop into my ISP modem and can always get 750/750 or higher. When I plug the same cable into my Orbi router, the max download speed is about 520MBPS while the upload is consistently 750+.
Is there a setting I can adjust to get the maximum speed from the Orbi?

Re: Netgear Orbi RBR20 hardwire speed issues
What Firmware is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem the NG router is connected too?
Are you speed testing with a PC and Ooklas speed test app installed on the PC?
Have you enabled the speedtest app on the RBR, Traffic Meter or Access Controls on the RBR?

Re: Netgear Orbi RBR20 hardwire speed issues
The current firmware is 2.3.5.26
When I plug my laptop directly into the modem I use Ookla speed test and everything is 750+/750+
Next I plug the same ethernet cable into the Orbi and run the orbi speed test and I get 520down/768up
I run the speed test on my laptop coming out of the Orbi and it does about 450-500 up/700 down
I haven't messed around with any of the traffic meter settings but I would assume the hardwired router should be perfect with up and down speeds of 750/750 if the modem is passing the speeds.

Re: Netgear Orbi RBR20 hardwire speed issues
Is this your modem?
https://www.actiontec.com/products/wifi-routers-gateways/vdsl/t3200m/
This already had a built in router which may cause some problems.
This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly. Then use the Orbi router in router mode.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop
Let us know what mode the modem is working in...

Re: Netgear Orbi RBR20 hardwire speed issues
Hi,
Yes that is the exact modem. When the installer came to set it up months ago, I asked him to put in in bridge mode so nothing is active as far as wifi from the router. It is just passing the signal to the orbi. As i mentioned, when i plug my laptop directly to the T3200M, I get the full speeds of 750/750 so I know it is sending the signal.
The issue is when I connect the T3200M to the Orbi, and then test the laptop again from the orbi output, the signal download drops to 450-500MBPS, while the upload remainds the same at 750+

Re: Netgear Orbi RBR20 hardwire speed issues
Ya seems that some various cable gateways and Orbi are not working well. I get near 900Mbps however my modem doesn't have a built in router.
I recommend you open up a support ticket here and let NG know what your seeing:
