Re: ORBI RBR20 please help

can you give a picture of your setup and wiring?

you can probably just hand draw it on paper and take picture. Remember to put all the wires on it.

Re: ORBI RBR20 please help

If the problem is happening when the modem got switched, have you checked if Modem is loosing signals periodically?

where is the White cable going to?

do you have any MOCA based devices in the home?

Is your TiVO doing MOCA?

can you please continiously ping 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.0.1  and post here when the connection breaks?

Do you see disconnection on WIRED PC?

Please post the EVENT LOGS from the CODA device.

Re: ORBI RBR20 please help

White cable goes to my PC

Not sure if any devices use moca, guessing not ? Nest cams, tablets are what I mainly use .
Wired PC stays connected I believe but nothing loads . 0mbps .

Will report back with logs once home thanks for replying
How do I know if my TiVo uses it ?

Re: ORBI RBR20 please help

I believe many TiVOs have MOCA in it. If you do have MOCA on it and it is enabled, do not connect connect those TIVOS via ethernet to Orbi. that will cause loop.

so action for you:

1. Check the event log for CODA. any Timeouts and disconnections?

2. Check the network log for the Orbi. Any WAN disconnections?

3. keep ORBI and CODA FAR APART. You have them right next to each other.

thanks,

VK

Re: ORBI RBR20 please help

My ISP came again switched the hitron out for some other arrys box..bridging didn't work again as it uses my tv services..so they set the ISP wifi ssid and password to the same as my orbi.

Does this make any sense ?

Re: ORBI RBR20 please help

What is the model# of the new modem?

Is the RBR in AP mode still? If so, you should be getting internet thru the Orbi RBR and it's wifi.

They really should have used a separate SSID name for your TV services WiFi. This may confuse you and your wireless devices and your wireless devices will connect to the ISP modems wifi instead of the Orbis wifi.

Re: ORBI RBR20 please help

I will get the model number when I get back home.
I don't believe they share the same public wifi with the tv but a different wifi or something in the modem..
I'm really not sure, I will report back

Re: ORBI RBR20 please help

Hey buddy, so nothing has kicked off..I ran orbi router + 1 satellite.

Orbi router front of house basement.
Satellite 1 back of house main level.

Everything been fine 300 ish Mbps sitting outside .

Satallite 2 plugged into garage, before even with 120 Mbps I'd get 30-40. Id expect atleast 100 as it's not far from satellite 1. Right now I'm getting 10-25 Mbps.

Satellite 2 is poor
Could you help me resolve this 😝.

This is a pic of satellite 2.. right on other side of wall is satellite 1 .. if I'm close to wall I get 300+ Mbps.. inside garage no good.

Re: ORBI RBR20 please help

I saw in one of the screenshts from the Hitron router that it has a DMZ setting, have you tried that?

Please set up the IP address of the Orbi (192.168.0.92 or another address if it has changed) as the DMZ destination in the Hitron router.

Reserve a fixed IP address for Orbi in the Hitron Router so that it does not keep changing.

Re: ORBI RBR20 please help

what you have got here is "Daisy chain" setup in the Orbi. It will automatically choose this setting as your Sat-2 is wirelessly-far from Router. May be there many obstructions here.

It will display poor if the Backhaul rate is poor.

you could try changing the positions of Sat 1 to see if it be bit more closer to sat2.

if you draw a top down view of your house floor plan, someone can probably comment more.

Is your disconnection problem solved by just removing CODA off your home?

Re: ORBI RBR20 please help

I'm actually quite puzzled..
I reboot everything , did one satellite at a time because I noticed sat 2 would try to take from the router instead of sat 1, and all of a sudden everything is GOOD.

My setup now goes as followed .
1050 sq ft bungalow ( downstairs + main level ) I think my house is like 50 ft or something long ?
Router and modem basement front of house closest to wall

Sat 1 main level closest to back wall of house
From back of house to garage door 20 ft ish+15 ft to sat 2
Sat 2 is in my garage farthest away possible from sat 1 .

Everything seems to be working a ok.
My guess is it was the hitron coda 4589 modem causing the connection issues .

The only weird thing is if I goto the back of my house to the middle while on main floor I get 40 Mbps unless i turn wifi on and off for it to rrconnt to the closest orbi or something.

Now getting speeds around 150 in garage ..is this normal? I get 600 ish beside router, I have 1gb I understand wifi is less but is the Singal supposed to carry that 600 or lose a bit ? It seems sat 1 gives almost full whereas sat 2 is 150 or so.

For now everything is ok, I just want to say a big thank you to the 3 guys on this post assisting with everything they can .

Re: ORBI RBR20 please help

I would have to say problem solved for now, not sure what else I could do to improve..is there anyway to get more than 150 in garage ? I mean it's not even really necessary is it haha .

At this point I'm quite happy. Nothing is disconnecting constantly.. both orbi status are good.
