ORBI RBR20 router is offline but satellite is online

The problem is ORBI RBR20 router is offline (red dot on app) but satellite is online (green dot on app). This cannot be right. I disconnected the ISP router and connected the Orbi to the Gigibit modem and installed the RBR20. I get internet but the fact that its telling me the Orbi router is offline tells me something is wrong.
The ISP router was a Zyxel and I got the same result when I connected the Orbi to it with the router offline and the satellite online.

Thanks. I suspect that the issue is the Nokia does not provide a "public" IP address to the Orbi, and thus the Orbi thinks it is not connected to the Internet. One clue is that the Nokia provides (4) ethernet ports and seems to be doing "router stuff". (IGMP snooping, QoS, VLAN's)

When searching for information on the Nokia, I came across this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/dubai/comments/a39kc5/du_router_nokia_g240gc_login_credentials/
I understand this is all absurd because the Orbi obviously IS connected to the internet since "it works."

Re: ORBI RBR20 router is offline but satellite is online
I believe the satellite "green" light means that it successfully connected to the router, not that it has internet access.
The yellow (WAN) port has to be connected to the modem for the Orbi to recognize that it has a good connection.

Re: ORBI RBR20 router is offline but satellite is online
Thank you for the response!
Ok, good to know. The funny part is that have great wifi speeds (200 mb plan getting 205 both up and down)
I have a received a gigibit modem and a seperate wifi router/switch from my ISP so I disconnected the ISP supplied router/switch and then connected the Orbi. The question I have is why do I have great speeds (data is turned off on my phone) when the Orbi RBR20 is all that I have connected and the "RB20 router" has a red light on the app that tells me its offline.
The ISP modem does have a fiber connection that was connected to their router with a patch cable.I simply unplugged their router.
I called my ISP and they said everything is good on their end and cant trouble shoot the Orbi naturally.

Re: ORBI RBR20 router is offline but satellite is online
What Firmware is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem the NG router is connected too? Built in router here by chance? If so, This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

Re: ORBI RBR20 router is offline but satellite is online
@dstrbd wrote:Orbi RBR20 is all that I have connected and the "RB20 router" has a red light on the app that tells me its offline.
Now there are two questions:
- How can the Orbi app display a green dot for the satellite when the router has a red dot?
Answer: the dots indicate different things. - How can user devices be working when the Orbi router "ring light" at the top is red (technically "magenta")?
When you unplugged the ISP wifi/router and plugged in the Orbi, did you power off the fiber box for a minute and then turn it back on?
It is the yellow (WAN) port on the RBR20 that is connected to the fiber box?

Re: ORBI RBR20 router is offline but satellite is online
Orbi:
model: RBR20
irmware Version v2.3.5.26
ISP supplied modem: Nokia G-240G-A
ISP supplied router: Zyxel EMG3425-Q10A
ISP supplied wifi video bridge/extender: Technicolor OWA0130
So as of right now the Orbi (yellow internet port) is connected to the Nokia modem data 1.
The Zyxel and the Technicolor are completely disconnected.

Re: ORBI RBR20 router is offline but satellite is online
The ring on top is not illuminated.
The app front page shows:
INTERNET
Offline
SATELLITES
1
Network Map
Internet (green dot)
Router (red dot)
Satellite (green dot)
I get wifi all over but why is the app telling me its offline?

Re: ORBI RBR20 router is offline but satellite is online
OK
I did check the app today while at work and the dot was green for an hour or so. Now its red.
I'll let it go for it does seem to be working.
Thanks for all your help
