I have recently purchased a Orbi RBR50 (router + 1 satellite). When I test the internet speed at the router through the Orbi app I measure: download speed of 550mbps or above and upload of 900mbps or above. However I have tried to connect various devices in all kind of positions and distances in my apartment and the maximum speed I reach through wifi is ~300mbps. Is it normal to lose almost 50% of speed even when there are no obstacles between the devices?

What Firmware is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem the NG router is connected too?
What devices are you using to speed test? Wired or wireless? Wired PC is preferred.

Try using Ooklas installable speed test app.

Speed test with a PC directly connectec to the RBR.

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.

Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

Try enabling Beamforming and MIMO(MIMO may or maynot be needed) and WMM. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings

Try disabling the following and see:
Armor, Circle, Daisy Chain, Fast Roaming, IPv6 and Set 20/40Mhz Coexistence to 40Mhz only. Save settings and reboot the router and satellite(

Is it the actual 'speed' you're concerned about or the 'connection'?

Do your devices work? Can you reach the internet? No bufferring?
