Obscenely Slow Wi-Fi With RB50 on all devices.
Hi there... hoping to get some help with WiFi settings on my Orbi... I have spent months now playing with every setting possible and position around my house with absolutely no luck at all getting decent wifi speeds.
Connection Speed from ISP 150/20, tests wired at 185/25.
I have the RBK50 with 1 Sattelite in a ~1800sqft 2-level home.
If I test with my phone using OOKLA I get around 18mb down, and 15up.
If I test using my Surface Pro 3 - I get about 20 down, and 14-16 up.
These results are the same no matter where in my house I test from - the far donstairs corner to the same room as the router and anywhere in between.
If I disconnect the Orbi, change my modem/router out of bridged mode back into router mode - then enable WiFi on it - just some dual-band motorolla from my ISP, I get 125 down, 20up on my phone. 136 down, 20up on my Surface Pro 3.
I have tried turning WMM on/off
Daisy-Chain On/Off
Beamforming On/Off
MU-MIMO On/Off
Fast Roaming On/Off
And pretty much every combo of these.
I am ready to honestly just sell this whole thing if I can't sort it out....
Figured I would try here first in case there is something I am missing.

Re: Obscenely Slow Wi-Fi With RB50 on all devices.
What FW is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the IP modem the NG router is connected too?
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet is recommended in between them to begin with depending upon building materials.
What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?
WMM should be enabled always.
You can leave beamforming enabled. If you don't have any MIMO devices, you can leave this disabled as well. Along with Daisy Chain and Fast Roaming...
Regarding Modem Combo Units:
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router.

Hitron CGNM-2250 - It is running in transparent bridge when I have the orbi connected, and I pull it from bridged via contacting the ISP when I need to test with it directly.

About 15-20ft

I have tried 6, 11, and Auto for 2.4 and Every option, currently 48, for 5ghz. (Townhouse, so theres maybe 3 other wifi networks within range, nothing too horrible) As well, the Hitron works fine - I also spent the last 30 min keeping the Hitron in bridge mode, and re-installing my old Asus N66U - and with the Asus, again, I get full speeds, about 120-135 down on Wifi, unplug, plugin Orbi, immediately back in the 20s.

FW is just windows - but it's disabled along with defender and smartscan during all testing with a group policy, I will enable it afterwards.

Re: Obscenely Slow Wi-Fi With RB50 on all devices.
"About 15-20ft" is too close for the satellites to the router. Lets try something. Turn OFF ALL satellites. Do some wireless speed testing with just the router....
