Orbi OR Nighthawk?

Hello,

 

I am replacing my rented cable modem and am trying to decide between the Orbi CBR40 and the Nighthawk C7000.

 

I really like the idea of being "Mesh-Ready" with the Orbi, but until I have the money to invest in the Orbi satellites,

I need to use my existing TP-Link AC2600 Dual Band Wi-Fi Range Extender.

 

Will this even work with the Orbi?  Or do I have to stick with the older Nighthawk router technology?

    I like my CBR40. I have a 5000sq ft home and use the base at one end of the house and just 1 satellite, 40 feet way at the other end. Good coverage and performance. No need for any extenders. Other extenders arn't needed and probably not work well with Orbi. Orbi and MESH is it's own thing. 

     

    You could get in to a Modem only like a NG CM and get a Orbi RBR system with out the built in cable modem and use the RBR system as the main router and wifi MESH.
