Orbi RBR20 Wifi Freezes repeatedly

Hello.

I am using an ORBI RBR20 router. Specifications are provided below.

My issue:

My interent connectivity freezes up 4-5 times a day. The ISP provided fiber optic modem has connectivity during these freeze occasions and a wired connection directly from the fiber optic modem works fine during the disruptions. During the outage I dont experience any issues with the Wifi signal/strength either and it is not a device specific issue as the interent connectivity goes out on all devices at home. A restart of the ORBI has been resolving the freeze but its hugely inconvenient. I had earlier experienced issues with DoS attacks but that has been resolved (I dont see any traces of DoS attacks in the router logs). And this particular problem was there even before the DoS attacks started and is there after those have stopped.

Product specification:

  • Hardware Version RBR20
  • Firmware Version V2.3.5.36
  • GUI Language Version V1.0.0.360
  • Operation Mode Router
  • DHCP Server On
  • Region Asia
  • 2.4G Channel 11
  • 2.4G Mode Up to 400 Mbps
  • 5G Channel 36(P)+40+44+48
  • 5G Mode Up to 866.7 Mbps
  • 5G-2 Channel 157
  • 5G-2 Mode Up to 866.7 Mbps

Can someone please help me with the issue? Thanks in advance.

Re: Orbi RBR20 Wifi Freezes repeatedly

What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem the NG router is connected too?

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected. https://kb.netgear.com/000036466/How-far-should-I-place-my-Orbi-satellite-from-my-Orbi-router

Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

Try enabling Beamforming and MIMO(MIMO may or maynot be needed) and WMM. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings

Try disabling the following and see:
Armor, Circle, Daisy Chain, Fast Roaming, IPv6 and Set 20/40Mhz Coexistence to 40Mhz only. Save settings and reboot the router and satellite(s).

Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update?
