Hi,
I bought a refurbished Orbi RBR43 kit and set it up 4 days ago. It is sitting behind a comcast modem/router combo plugged into the ethernet port.
Serial #: 50U77953005A2
Firmware version: V2.3.5.32
Since yesterday, it will drop wifi completely and flash white until i power cycle it.
There is no mention in the documentation on what flashing white means. It is not pulsing, I have seen it pulsing. This is flashing.
If I pull the ethernet cable out of the back and into my computer, the internet works fine. This would also not explain the dropped wifi signal.
I have tried messing with the channel settings and turning off/on different features like Fast Roaming and MU-MIMO to no avail.
What does the flashing white mean? Is this a network configuration error that I can remedy?
Thanks for the help,
Will
Rant below:
This entire experience, especially with lack of documentation and atrocious customer support has been very frustrating. I'm wondering if I should just jump ship now.
I tried contacting customer support, and was greeted with an all too common script-slinger that spent 40 minutes to figure out that they cannot help me unless i register my product (what?) and that my product has already been registered to someone else.
When I got the Orbi it had not been factory reset, so I am wondering if it was refurbished at all.
wtf, netgear?

IWhat mode is your modem router working in? Bridge or Router mode? If it has a built in router, This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. Would be a cause of the RBR flashing WHITE possibly.

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

Re: Orbi RBR40 Flashes (not pulsates) white frequently
Thank you, 10/10 advice. I plan to do that in a bit.
For anyone else experiencing this issue, it can also be resolved by setting a reserved IP address for the Orbi.
I understand comcast can sometimes block you from enabling bridge mode, for example if you are using xFi features, so setting a reserved IP might be some peoples only option.
Once I set a reserved IP for the Orbi from my comcast router web control, I no longer have Wifi drops / flashing white light.
Thanks, @Blanca_O ! I will definietly be turning the Comcast router/modem into bridge mode.

Ya, some ISPs block user access to there modems. Glad you were able to get your working.
Enjoy.
