Orbi RBR50 - F/W: 2.1.4.10 - Router Continuously Attempts to Seek Netgear Updates
I have a RBR50 Orbi router with a satelitte running my home network. I use an internet modem for my internet connection - which connects into the internet port of the RBR50. This configuration allows all my devices to have internet access.
That said, I've been chasing a data consumption problem. I've reduced the problem so that the only devices left connected to the Orbi router is the internet hotspot. Even still it consumes about a gigabyte of data an hour. After running a wireshark capture between the mobile hotspot and the RBR50 router, i have determined that over 80% of the traffic is coming from http.fw.updates1.netgear.com. Inside of 10 minutes, it had downloaded approximately 160 MB of data. Since June 1st, my router has consumed upwards of 20GB - this is a 5 day stretch.
It appears as though the router is in some kind of continuous loop trying to get firmware information/data from NetGear. As a result of this isusue, I am unable to use the router any more and have reverted to an old unit so I do not blow my data usage caps for the month.
Any help would be appreciated as i would really like to put this Orbi product back into operation.

Nice find.
What happens if you block http.fw.updates1.netgear.com, updates1.netgear.com and
downloads.netgear.com and block port 21 to 192.168.1.1?https://community.netgear.com/t5/Orbi/Firmware-auto-update-domain/m-p/1496537#M22593
